  • Google and you find pictures of the suspects all over the place. These guys are in custody, so there's no need to describe them. If police were looking for them, maybe the media would have reported something on their appearance. --E.
  • right, looks like their photos were just released.
  • You know, there was a white guy posting on this board using ghetto talk and many people assumed that he was black. Turned out he was some kind of white hipster having fun with you all and some of you were shocked or amused that he got one over on you!

    Something to think about.
  • Are you talking about EL FLAILEY? I don't think that he pulled one over on anyone. Also, where exactly did someone state or imply that they had thought that he was black? Maybe you should check your assumptions.
  • Geez, is there any aspect of your life where you don't see racism? You use it as a crutch. Oh, it's not because my dog is barking it's gotta be racism, it's not because I'm dressed like I just woke up it's gotta be racism, gee maybe that guy is staring because I'm attractive, not it's gotta be racism.
    Your the racist.
RBG wrote: Let me be clear. The racism that I've experienced in the neighborhood is is not overt. Its subtle. Its the way people take their dogs across the street when my little dog is barking too loud. Its the look that says, "Don't you know how to train your dog?" Its the stares and strange looks that give me pause. The same person who acknowledges me when I'm wearing skinny jeans and stilettos will ignore me when I'm wearing my hair tied up in a scarf with a sweatsuit and sneakers. Looking llike you're from the hood somehow makes you invisible. Sometimes, I think they believe that black folks living in the 'hood are supposed to dress, speak, act, walk, talk, or simply behave a certain way. When white people in the 'hood see black people who don't fit certain stereotypical molds, they often act surprised. In SF, because there's such a small (almost non-existant) black middleclass, white people act really strange towards blacks who don't fit into their preconceived notions of what a black person is supposed to be. If an African-American isn't a crackhead, prostitute, or homeless, many of the white people I've encountered seem confused. Its like we're some strange, odd hyrbid breed of black folk...To me, this behavior is beyond strange, its racist.
  • When I saw the word "race" I hopped on to this thread thinking it was about Republican Fred Thompson's race to the white house. While all the democrats are trying to prove who's more woman and who's more black, this actor will swoop right in.

OK, got it. I usually use "woman" and "man", not "female" and "male". Sounds less clinical, more humane.

Next time I'll be sure to get you a cookie with that...

Don't get me started with some (not all) wf's in Prospect Heights....Why do some of them look at me like I shouldn't be dressed a certain way or own certain things? I felt it in San Francisco and I feel it here...and it sucks.
    What's a wf?

Wi-Fi. The technology of wireless local area networks. Duh!
