Drinks and Harry Potter

I don't know about you folks, but I plan to be outside Community Bookstore at midnight on Friday to pick up my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I'd love to have some company while waiting on line. Anyone else who's heading that way care to join me?

I also think it would be fun to meet up beforehand for a drink or three. I was thinking Flatbush Farm, as they've got that big outdoor space. (It's not just for people ordering dinner, right?)

Even if you're not into HP, please come raise a glass to help me celebrate the end of a long, long wait. :)

  • I have a party that night (that I will be leaving early from to get the book) but I have a book club that is planning a special Harry Potter Meeting July 29th if you'd like to join us to discuss everything.
  • Smart idea! My book group isn't quite that organized. :)

I'd love to come to your meeting, but I might have a conflict that day. I'll check on that tomorrow and PM you.

That sounds like fun. I love harry potter. I'll probably be in the neighborhood.
  • As previously discussed, I'm in. My husband might come along to hang out, or not. How early do you think we should get in line? I forget how early I did last time.
  • I think I headed over at about 11:45 last time, but I'm not sure. I do know the line stretched around the corner at that point. Maybe we should get there by 11:30?
  • I'd come, but I'm going to be drinking OE and rewatching my zombie movies that night.
  • Did the line dissipate fairly quickly? I think I went much earlier, between 9 and 10. I wasn't at the front of the line, but I was only a few storefronts down from the bookstore.
  • sorry I can't join you guys - flying out to London tonight. will have the book hours before you. nanny nanny boo boo, etc.

    xo
  • FWIW, Central branch of Brooklyn Public Library is having a huge HP party that night from 11pm to 1am, complete with bands and such. Might be worth swinging by after you get your copy.

wow, you really must not want anyone to like you, huh? posting FAKE spoilers on a thread about the jittery excitement a bunch of folks have waiting for a much anticipated book to come out?

but, you have shown one thing, and you get the first warning: no spoilers on this thread, people. read the rules - be nice. spoiling people who don't want to be spoiled IS NOT NICE. so stop.
  • I was just kidding. I can't wait to read it to my kids when they get old enough to enjoy it.
  • MOD v GOD: spoiler alert, fake or otherwise
Harry dies in the end, Hagrid marries Hermony and Ron becomes a drunk.

Now THAT was a spoiler! Stop it GOD. If you don't - I will stop praying to you.
  • If you're coming tonight and don't already know me, I'll be the blond woman in the Gryffindor T-shirt. See you there!
  • So, did you guys meet up?
