don't know the owner but have had serious issues with the staff. one guy in particular, i'm not kidding the guy was out of control. rude as can be and not just with me but everyone on line. can't remember exactly what he looks like cuz i never went back. could only describe him as being a queen. (you think the gays will get mad that i'm calling him a queen?) he was and that's all i remember about dude.

Are you sure you didn't walk into Riteaid on 7th Avenue near 5th Street instead? The staff their is out of control. I don't even no where to begin. Once a cashier was angry that I had nothing smaller than a twenty dollar bill and said with a lot of anger, "I guess it's pay day. I guess everybody is rich." Don't even get me started on Riteaid's pharmacy. -

Parrothead, I know exactly what you're talking about! Such a Diva at the counter! I feel guilty for interrupting his personal phone conversations when I walk in to purchase my tasti-d. Dark hair, glasses, Latino (will people get offended that I identified his ethnicity?!)....if you find out, let me know.

I've gone in numerous times and was served by the Diva to which some are referring. Yes, he's got attitude and all those affectations I see among the youth at service counters these days. I was annoyed at first too. But now I think he's just a quirky, harmless character. Believe it or not, you have to break him down a little and then he's rather charming. Now I get, "Have a nice day meese" with a little smirk. I think I'm finally wearing him down. Although, I do seem to get charged less for ice cream by the other guy. These boards can be dangerous. Elementi has been totally empty and I wonder how much influence the comments here have had on business. So anyway, let the kid keep his afterschool job!

GiGi, there are quite a few people in PS that have never heard of this board. And as for the guy at Tasty-Delite, I can say as someone who works in the service industry you shouldn't have to "break him down". Obviously, we have bad days like everyone else but we still have to be polite.

Yes, you're absolutely right about this. I was simply putting a lighter spin on it after having read an earlier post about him being "out of control" which seemed extreme for someone who fills cones. Lately, I feel like everyone behind a counter hates their job and any small request is done so grudgingly. Granted, there are some nasty customers who deserve it. Anyway, you think it would pass the day better to be pleasant at work but who knows what the deal is with some folks. -

hello, i'm still here -
My three year old and I have been visiting the Tasty-Delite nearly everyday for two weeks. When we last went in it was not the kid described by most, it was a 30ish maybe 40ish white guy, never smiles, perhaps the owner, I do not know.
Anyway, my son asked me for a cone and the man made a mistake, When I asked him to correct it, nicely and apologetic I might add, he wanted to charge me for both. When I asked about it he groaned and then wanted to charge me more than anyone had ever charged me for that very item. He was rude and sent me on my way. My son, I suppose, has to get used to attitude living in NYC but if you sell ice cream, for heaven's sake smile and if you are owner/manager well, enough said. -
Actually, I agree with you Gigi. I was one of those people who hated their job but I realized it was only making me more miserable. Now I think I'm pretty friendly and happy about my job. I'm very good at what I do, I don't just bag stuff and take money. I still get those people who think being a cashier means I'm an idiot and can't get a "real" job. The ones who treat me like a drone with no soul or the ones who take their crappy day out on me. But I'm lucky that I work where I work and I don't have to bend over and take it with a smile. Plus, the awesome customers far outweigh those jerks!
