Is it hell living on broadway next to the elevated tra

I'm looking at some apartments. For some of them on Broadway, on Google maps it appears there's an elevated train running RIGHT ON BROADWAY. So how bad is it having a train in front of ur window? How do people stand it?

  • i've always wondered what it's like to live with the train right outside the window. i live a block from the J and it's still loud enough to have to turn up the tv. some places might have special soundproofing windows but that doesn't do you much good if you want some ventilation. if you visit one of these places make sure you hang around until a train goes by. report back!
  • i lived at 440 bway in the late 90's... top floor... with big windows looking over the platform. must say, it took some time getting used to the train sounds. during the winter it wasn't so bad because we could have the windows closed but the summers sucked.
  • I wouldn't pay more than two hundred bucks ($200.) per month to rent an apartment next to train tracks.
