Drumming and singing in Prospect Park until daybreak Monday

Did anyone hear the drumming and singing in the park Sunday night. It sound vaguely Native American. I kept having spooky shaman dreams.

  • Yesterday, July 22nd was the First Quarter Moon (2:29 AM) - this and Full Moon events are often commemorated by Native American inspired groups - in NYC, one such group is SoulFire. SoulFire's are drum and dance circles that support neo-shamanic exploration of music, dance, self, other, art and healing.

From their web site: "It is our hope to help make the world a better place, One Fire at a Time, through our work with ceremonial all night fire circles in the woods (Sacred SoulFire, CoSM Fire, CTS!) and our urban expressions of connection to the muse (SoulFire Inside, DC, SoulFire@CoSM, NYC, CoSM's Full Moon Drum and Dance, NYC). Our intention is to bring art into action and connect with Kindred Tribe who are interested in the miraculous possibility that resides in community, rhythm, art and dancing dreams awake."
  • Yes.....I thought it sounded like a marching band ....or that I had too much wine.

    Thanks for the explanation
