Trolling guests — Brooklynian

Trolling guests

I like this board, and there is a lot of good information on it. BUT- these trolling guests are ridiculous. I think I have a pretty good idea of why you allow guest posts, and it makes sense to allow them in some ways. In other ways, it is horribly frustrating and really detracts from the good information being disseminated and discussed here. I don't know what the solution is, but I did want to throw it out here as a problem, I'm sure that I can't be the only being horribly annoyed by it.

  • Yeah, but we also have Trolls that have registered.
What do we do about those a-holes?
  • daver, this has been discussed a lot (there are probably a bunch of earlier threads about it in this section). dailyheights, the guy who started this board, feels strongly that the barrier to participation should be very low. Therefore, we only make registration mandatory when it seems unavoidable--when the trolling threatens to entirely take over a board and make it unreadable. Seems to only happen when a given forum gets really big, as has happened for PH and PS so far.

It seems to be a growing problem in the Fort Greene board at present as well...Appolonia666, homesteader and others have been kept running trying to contain things, but it strikes me that if you've had to lock six threads in two days, there may be an issue.

Although, it mainly seems to be one person (who's not so much a troll, only that he kind of just doesn't get it); I understand sometimes you ban an individual ISP, and that may be all that's necessary.
