Palo Santo

Well, I haven't been there yet. It's on my list of places to go. But seeing no one has responded I'll throw this out: from all the reviews I've read the tasting menu is great. So what the hell, try it.
I'm planing to, if I ever get a chance to splurge.

Palo Santo is great. About every aspect of it. Interesting cooking, great service. The wine list is fun, try the Valle de Guadalupe from Mexico. Surprisingly good. More of a modern style wine. Great decor if a little over the top. Prices are decent. This place along with A Di La, Red Cafe, Tempo, Convivium, Aliseo, even the overpriced Franny's really deliver the goods.

I love the place. The food is really really good and people are nice. Except that the place is rather small and you may need to wait, and the kitchin is small too so you may need to wait for food again. Otherwise I really reccomend it.

So start a thread about Palo Santo, 'cause I don't see what it has to do with Franny's.

They change their Menu daily, so what else can i say , go there and try it for yourself...No financial ties to it here!

I'm willing to give them another shot on the tasting menu, rather than menu items, but, frankly, the menu items should be the standout or at least the easy illustrations of the strengths of the restaurant. and it'll be awhile before I decide to drop that cash on that joint. palo santo, in my opinion, not bad, but not great. nowhere near amazing. the wines are great choices - note how much they lean, though, on argentina. it was very obvious in their wine selections but not in the food selections. that's not really a happy place.

What's up with the small portions everywhere. Lately I've been coming back from dinner and having a PB & J sandwich an hour later.

Weird. I went back recently, and was (gulp) taken aback by the small portions too! I LOVED it when I first went there, and was sorta weirded out by how "fancy" it now seemed to me. Or maybe I was just ravenous too...."not really a happy place." Exactly.

I ate there last night and thought the experience was very good and worth the price. The service was fantastic. The heirloom appetizer was one of the best dishes I have ever had. My wife's appetizer, a jicama, grapefruit combo was only ok, but her duck with mole sauce was excellent. My lamb ribs were also excellent. No - the dishes were not huge, but they were enough (barely) to satisfy. I agree with the criticisms that they should serve bread and expand the beverage options (a nice Mojito would have been good). I also think the reggae music was a bit much and out of place. The meal, including drinks, tax and tip came to less than $90. On a scale of 0-10, I woluld give it a solid 7 overall with the kicker being the service.

Flexi - variety is the spice of life. I can't argue with you there. Please share your thoughts if you find a good new restaurant to try.

like i said before if franny's got 2 stars this place is worth more, i know you are all haters out there, but this is one of the most innovatives places in the whole of Brooklyn, not pizza and salads, i will always root for these guys. The chef is Fooking amazing!!!
