Cat Hotel?

best bet is a cat sitter that comes to your home, twice/day if possible. Cats are happiest in their home environment. A good cat sitter will also groom them and water your plants.
-
I use 5th ave Cat Clinic, I had my cat there a few weeks ago, it's a little pricy at $25 per day, but my cat always seems content when she comes home. The cats are also have a large window so they can see the street and people, gives them something to do during the day I guess.
They will require you to have all your latest shots though, if not they will charge you to re-do them. -
Please don't patronize 5th Ave. Cat Clinic. I already posted all of the details, but I hold them responsible for the death of my cat and I think Dr. Bregman is an asshole on a personal level - not only did he not accept any responsbility for what happened, but he didn't show an ounce of sympathy for my loss.
There are plenty of pet-sitters who will come visit your house in their own environment as bluecat mentioned above.
disclaimer: this is MY opinion of what happened to my cat, but I stand by it 100%. If Bregman wants to come give his side, he's more than welcome. That said, I'd never give them another dime of my money and I wouldn't trust them to watch any of my animals ever again. -
On that note, does anyone have a pet sitter that they've used and would recommend? I also need someone to check up on my kitty a bunch in the upcoming months, but I don't feel entirely comfortable having a stranger from craigslist having a key to my house. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Do a search on this board as there were some threads about this already. I don't remember the name of one woman, but several people have used her services
-
I dont feel comfortable with a stranger having keys to my home.
Maybe Im paranoid.
I would love to drop him off at a safe place where he will be taken care of and not just thrown in a cage........
On that note, if someone does know someone AMAZING that they trust 100%, Im open to it....................
Thanks all -
5th Ave keeps them in cages...just fyi

I did do a search, Flexichick, and all that is specifically mentioned is services. I'd rather use a specific person who someone recommended. In past posts, everyone says "PM me and I'll give you my person's name, I love them!" I was hoping someone would do that again, if they have someone they trust, not just point me to a random service.

I have heard positive feed back about Amy's Kitty Sitting. She is a registered user here (amyskittysitting) and I am sure she can provide you with names of people she has worked for or do you have a neighbor you trust?
Also you should PM the people who offered the names. Im sure they wouldn't mind.
Good luck -
I'll PM you...

I have heard that Woofs N' Whiskers has a nice boarding facility and take good care of your animals while they are there.
-
i am also in the market for a kitty sitter. would anyone care to name names or PM me?

Been using Woofs and Whiskers since it opened. the new owners have made vast improvements. There is are special cat condos, and cats that are friendly to each other are able to socialize.
Can someone suggest a GREAT one?
Where they take amazing care of your animal?
Thanks in advance people.
I can't recommend it highly enough. Summit Street, between Columbia and Hicks, in RH/CG. -
I knew the former owners and the facility was top notch when they ran it.. sounds like the current owners have gone beyond and things are even better... nice to hear.

What is the daily boarding rate for cats at W&W?

The former owners were terrific, but it was more dog oriented. It's even better for cats now, and the new owners are just a great as Jim & Betsy.
As an added bonus, gowanus nursery is right next door - you can replace those plants that have died when you were on vacation.

To be honest.. you couldn't be more right.. fromer ownership partners.. dog lovers in a big way!! Not implying for a sec they would neglect ant pet in their charge but I think it is terrific that cat people get to partake of the extraordinary care at Woofs and Whiskers... MEOW!
Funny I was at Lowes spending another$50 replacing the plants that didn't work in my garden!!.. That Nursery is great!! The plants that I bought there.. are alive and well! -

Yes, this is a good option, though I'll admit I'm partial since I do some petsitting on the side. I already know the people whose pets I look after (many of them are friends of Mom's), so the whole trusting-me-with-keys-to-their-house thing isn't an issue. If you have any reliable friends (or reliable friends-of-friends) who are a bit short on cash, you might want to ask them if they would be able to cat-sit. -
whatever you do! don't leave your cat here:

You are right - I stand corrected. Still nice people, though. -
Yes they are apecial people. I know Betsy was working on a book based on their experience owning and running Woofs and Whiskers.. I don't know if this book was ever finished or published because I have lost touch with them but I would bet they had some interesting stories to tell.
