So I am thinking this might be the spot for our weekly "Tuesday dinner out in the hood." Anyone know about vegetarian options? I haven't had a chance to swing by to check out the menu.

Along that note. If anyone wants to chime in on other neighborhood places with good vegetarian options, I am an eager audience. I have had the veggie plate at Sorrel - which is fabulous, don't get me wrong - one too many times lately.

have you been to le gamin?
  • No... honestly I usually steer clear of French assuming that there won't be much for me on the menu. Might I be pleasantly surprised there?

as long as you're not vegan ..

they have a really nice leek & goat cheese crepe and several other veggie options that you might enjoy.

also I think Noona has some vegetarian stuff on the menu.
  • The only veggie options at Noona are Bibimbop (which is a great option, if you ask me) with or without egg.

It's in the slope, but Olive Vine is middle eastern food and has the usual mezza and good pizzas that are veggie.

    The Islands has veggie curry.
  • one of my favorite veggie standbys is at carneviento: yellow rice, black beans and tostones with salsa picante. goes nicely with a cold heineken. cheap, tasty and you get your recommended allowance of sodium for the year.
  • All of the beans at Carneviento are cooked with pork so it's not a veggie option after all.

that seems wrong. black beans are traditionally vegetarian. not saying you're wrong - they may very well have pork in them. they just shouldn't. :?

I am not a vegetarian but I have never seen any pork in the black beans. I usually order the red beans and they have some calabasa (sp? - spanish squash) in it but no meat.
  • i too have never spotted the tiniest bit of meat in the beans at cv, but i'd be happy to have a definitive answer on this if anyone knows for sure. i'll ask next time i'm there.
