a rant about my dumb neighbor

He's out on the landing, a tiny little landing shared by four apartments. He's been working on some carpentry project for an hour and a half now - hammering and sawing out there. If the project is too messy to do inside the apartment, why is it OK to do it in the shared areas?

He's always out in the hallways talking in the same loud, plaintive tone to his stepkids or girlfriend. Or sometimes just talkin' out loud to himself.

Now there's a discussion going on about the kids being in trouble. Kids protesting in a loud whiny voice, "But I didn't DO it!!" Everything they say reverberates in the hallway and the entire building can hear every word of their conversations.

Sometimes neighbor guy plays ball in the entryway of the building with his two gigantic stepkids. There they are when you're trying to get out the front door, yelling and bouncing balls off the walls.

They're good people and mean well yet are so, so annoying. Especially to those of us who work at home sometimes and need to concentrate.

Argh.
