Will Fulton ever get fixed? — Brooklynian

Will Fulton ever get fixed?

Hey there.

I'm curious about Keyspan (or ConEd's) ripping up of Fulton St, making it one-way, and doing an outstanding job of paving up their mess.

Does anyone know if/when we'll get two-way traffic back on Fulton? Or if it will remain one-way? Or, most importantly, will someone be coming by to do a better job of re-paving the mess they originally made? I've looked around for info, but may not be looking in the right place.

  • It is scheduled to be fixed and returned to a two way sreet by the spring of next year I thought, but I don't see much being done.
  • I don't know anything about the Fulton Street deal, but ConEd spent about a year, maybe more, ripping up and repaving Franklin Street in Greenpoint.
  • I like it being one way, much quieter with less traffic and parked cars blaring music to show how cool they are...

I've got no problem with one-way traffic either. I agree with how much more quiet it is (not to mention, safer).

I'm just really wishing the streets were repaved. It's not a driving issue. It's purely an aesthetic (and clumsy walker) issue.
  • Subject: Miracle of Miracles!

Miracle of Miracles! Construction guys were working on Fulton today! Between Classon and and St. James. Exciting!

For those of you who say you don't mind them not working on & completing the road, that is a very self centered & short sighted way of thinking. Since the street is one way, buses can't run on the street anymore, and cars can't go both ways. This hurts businesses along the street, and makes the street look like a ghost town. This is not what we want for the Fulton corridor.
  • No one said they did not want work to be done or completed, just that they preferred it one way. the bus runs one block away on Atlantic as a part of the detour now. What is nice is that there is less moronic behavior by idiots rolling down Fulton with their stereos blasting, or parking in front of the Sr. Center on Friday nights drinking and carrying on at excessively noisy levels. I can't wait for more services, two way street is fine so long as the dealers are pushed out. With time and more gentrification things will certainly get better for all who actually care about the neighborhood.
  • How about keeping fulton street one way and putting in a light rail line that runs down flatbush? (I just got back from the Netherlands). Also- I think they're re-doing the sewers etc. in anticipation of Ratnerville. Your tax dollars at work.

  • Trust me, if they don't do the sewer work you'll think of them every time you the folks in AY flush.
