Recycling pick-up in PH
Hi guys-
I'm new to the nabe and new to this blog (hello!) and I cannot for the life of me figure out why my reycling isn't always picked up. My pick up day is Tuesday, and I- like all my neighbors on my block set my bags out on Monday night. However, on two occasions in the past few months everything has been picked up by the Sani Dept EXCEPT for our blue and clear bags of recycling.
Any ideas? I'm going to call 311 on it but somehow figure you guys might be more helpful.

I've found that when you put recycling out on your non-recycling day, sometimes it gets picked up and sometimes it doesn't. I suspect that it has to do with whether the trash guy 1) notices that it is recycle, and 2) cares. That is my theory, at least. -
that's what confuses me. It is the right day.
And twice now I've checked on Tuesday morning to find the street has been picked clean of all the trash and paper recycling, but the glass and plastic was left behind... -
Call 311 and complain, they are supposed to send somebody back out to get it. Or just move it back in, and put it back out the next day.

This used to happen on our block (in Bed Stuy). The neighbors shrugged and said that's just the way it is. But we called 311 to politely complain every single time it happened, and eventually the folks who run the garage where the trucks come from got in touch with us. We remained polite and they asked that we please call them directly rather than calling 311, and they'd take care of the problem. So that is what we have been doing, and they come out the next day to pick up what they forgot. Once the supervisor even drove out late at night and put the bags in his car! The service is much more reliable, now.

Sometimes the recycling folks come later in the day.
Howdy, Stranger!
