New to Bed Stuy
Hey Everyone...
I saw the last "New to Bed Stuy" thread was shut down so I thought I'd start one up again.... hopefully without any drama. I moved from Harlem to Madison street between Lewis and Marcus Garvey about a month ago and I LOVE it... The only draw back is that I have to travel pretty far to go to the gym and to get groceries, but other than that everything is great.
anyway, just wanted to say hey.. I'm often bored at work so you'll probably see a lot of me.

We live on the same block! I just read your post about feeding stray cats, and thought, "Wow, my neighbor is doing the same thing."
I actually love our neighborhood, though I agree with your complaints about no nearby grocery store. There's also a lack of decent deliveries, but there are a few restaurants in walking distance that are pretty good: Solomon Porch, Brooks Valley Cafe, and Petit Bassam.

The Y is 6 blocks from you on Bedford, and they have a bike rack. Can't help you with the groceries I go to the PSFC.

Theres a big nice Foodtown on Fulton St and Brooklyn Avenue. Its a little trek but well worth it for the fresh bread, cheese, salad bar ,deli, etc. Nothing else near to you worthwhile so you might as well check it out. I live in Clinton Hill and have the same problem. Not a decent supermarket to be found near so I head to Foodtown myself or Pathmark if I am going downtown.
Howdy, Stranger!
