Frame Place — Brooklynian

Frame Place

edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
Can anyone recommend a good (and reasonably priced) place to get things framed? I was thinking I'd take care of it in the neighborhood, but if you know some jewel somewhere else that would be worth hearing about, by all means...

thanks

  • I like NuNu gallery on Union.
  • I've never been in for anything myself, but a long-time P-Heights resident just recently opened a boutique on Vanderbilt called "Memories out of the Box." I think they do picture framing - not sure if you're looking for something a lot larger, but this would be a great local place to check out!
  • I used a place on Flatbush (I'm fairly sure it's on Prospect Place corner)... there is a cafe next door. They were very nice and did a great job. Remember that if the picture is going into a bathroom, tell them. It will be sealed up better than normal to keep out water.
  • I use San Art on Seventh at Flatbush.
  • That framer on Flatbush and Prospect is named Artisan. Unfortunately I can't recommend their work. I brought a rare movie poster there and they damaged the border of it. I was able to minimize the damage but, yk, the damage was done. Also, the couple other prints/posters I had framed there shifted and slipped out of position after a year or so. That said they were very nice!
This was before they split their space in half to make room for the cafe so maybe they have changed hands/personnel.
If having really good work done is more important than saving a few $ I highly recommend Make-A-Frame on Atlantic across from Sahadi's near Court. (I know, a bit of a hike if you're carless.) They aren't the cheapest, nor are they the most expensive, but they do great work and have great ideas about what sort of frame will match your piece.
