Accurate, stupid, racist, or LOCK YOUR DOORS!? — Brooklynian

Accurate, stupid, racist, or LOCK YOUR DOORS!?

King without a crown wrote: The Abner Louima case deals with one sick cop who intentionally comitted a crime against someone. The other 2 instances however you want to look at it, were of Police acting in good faith and made an unfortunate mistake. Probably the reason that all these individuals are Black. might be due to the fact that young black males are comitting the majority of the violent crimes in NYC and therefore have a proportionate amount of Police interactions.

  • Listen Raul, first you attack me with your private messages. Now a week after a thread you decide to post a retarded self serving poll. Grow up already, you claimed that my avatar of Matisyahu is anti-semetic and somehow you even managed to attack me, by bringing up the Pacific St Arson/Homicides. If you have a problem with my posts simply don't read them.
"If we lived somewhere else, you avatar wouldn't bother me. But given that Crown Heights was relatively recently the scene of black versus Jewish unrest, it cuts a little too close to home."
'I know you're just trying to get a rise by defending criminal again, but after visiting the site of the arson at 1033 Pacific, I'm in no mood for it.

Why don't you get angry at the murder who lit that fire? I don't know who you are or what your background is, but your posts leave the impression that you don't care because the victims were black. Do you realize that this is your impression, or are you just trying to ridicule the excuses of racists?
  • E. None of the above.

Remember, there are three kinds of lies:
    1) lies
    2) damn lies
    3) statistics

"the fact that young black males are comitting the majority of the violent crimes in NYC and therefore have a proportionate amount of Police interactions."

This is a statement of fact, that can be easily backed up. You don't even have to dig through crime statistics, you can find it on the pages of the NY Times. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9802E3D81F3AF93AA25756C0A9679C8B63 60% of suspects identified by crime victims are black.

There are a lot of different ways you can go with this. You could go somewhere like the cops are racist and assume that the blacks are bad, therefore they pick more of them up. Or something along those lines. You could go down a socioeconomic path, relating crime levels to education and income levels within neighborhood, showing clear lines that cut across race. That is one of my favorites. There are any number of other ways you could go.

Or you could shoot the messenger, whose racism or lack thereof makes little difference in the scheme of things. Honestly, if KWAC dropped off this board today, never to post again, do you think that the crime problems would go away? How about addressing those?

As far as having a "Jewish" avatar... Well, I would say that cuts both ways. Are you planning to outlaw all "black" avatars also? Why? Do you really think that saying you are Jewish (which isn't necessarily being said, BTW) means that you hate blacks? Or that saying you are black means you hate Jews?

    Anyway. Here goes:

An accurate portrayal of young black men No, the quote is accurate, but it is not, nor is it intended to be the portrayal of _all_ young black men that you are implying it to be.

Clueless about the neighborhood and a little callous, but not racist Totally not clueless about the neighborhood, I find KWAC posts to be very informative with "inside" information. Further, I don't find any racism in this post, just a statement of stats, and an opinion as to police motivation. Which I don't agree with, but that is OK.

While the intention may or may not be good, the effect is to clump all black men together. I find it offensive I find the clumping _your_ interpretation.

Lock your doors!! Nope, don't see that at all.
  • I'm locking this. Starting a thread for no apparent reason other than to call out another user hardly seems like it fits in with our rules here, raulism. Might I remind everyone here to READ THE RULES?
