This is the second thread I've run into where the two of you were engaged in a debate that was taking things over. Perhaps you could take it into Private Messaging?
Nothing is stopping other people from responding to what I have written and I'm not going to resort to speaking into a hole in the ground (PM) when it's clear people don't have all of the information or choose to look at it in particular ways.

I did just respond to what you'd written. My response was, "we're actually talking about something different, would you mind not taking over?"

You and ILikeSausage appear to be having a dispute between the two of you that concerns only the two of you, because it has spread across two threads. That is why I suggested PM -- not because it is a "hole in the ground" but because it is a way for two people who are clearly engaged in something that interests only the two of them to CONTINUE that discussion without taking over the rest of the board.
  • My original post was an attempt to provide historical information since I've actually lived in the "hood" at that time and still do. What I said was disputed by someone who to me is merely broadcasting the party line notion of what's wrong with the community or lack there of.

I don't really see where anything you have said addresses the OP in other words you are talking about something else and then want to chastise me for attempting to provide insight to those that I feel need it.
  • This is all so WRONG WRONG WRONG. It's as simple as not judging a book by its cover. Everyone has a right to shelter and love and that's all it boils down to. People's intentions will be made known by their actions. I live in Crown Heights now as a white female and I FEEL and HEAR the comments and energy from the locals and you know what? It SUCKS but I have to let it roll off my back because all I want to do is live peacefully WITHOUT an evil Starbucks on the corner and I definitely don't own property and I don't want the people in my neighborhood to change their traditions so why am I the enemy? I would never promote bragging about being white (who the hell does?) and I wouldn't dare be a "culture vulture" and what is this ish about white people walking down the street like they own it? Who does that? Does simply walking down the street constitute as "owning" it or do these particular white "devils" walk with some kind of swagger? I know what the sentiment is but until people try to accept others for who they are beyond the skin deep stuff, we will never get anywhere. I don't want to change the neighborhood I live in. I just want to live peacefully in it.

I'm actually speaking more to the fact that you and ILikeSausage were speaking exclusively to each other across two entire threads yesterday, taking up the whole thread. I wasn't talking so much about what you were saying, more about the fact that you were starting to get involved in what was looking like a grudge match.

But now other people are talking so my complaint has passed.
  • Well if you were talking about what I was saying that would be more people talking. I can't control whether people post or don't post nor predict who will.
