Bars in Clinton Hill (nee: gunshots)

ok-i redact my question/comment. i just moved in and have since read a bunch of posts on here. i like the neighborhood just fine and was looking for information. the last towns i've lived in have had guns and gunshots but not active messageboards like these. so, basically i don't want to stir anything up if it's not that serious and seem all gossipy. when it is, i will. until then, is there a decent dive/fun bar around here? the alibi and rope- which i discovered on here tonight- seemed pretty boring. thank you!

I like Rope. It's nice and chilled and unpretentious. Also I've been there when a crazy-ass burlesque birthday part broke it. it was entertaining.
there's a bar around the corner from me on Myrtle between Hall and Ryerson. It's called Vesper. Last time I was in there was a few months ago and it hadn't really broken away from the "brand new, no personality" period.
I'm still hoping it picks up some personality, it could be a cool place. -
I like Rope too, and Maggie Brown is great for backyard drinking/dining. Also, it's a litlte further out of the way for you but what about Moe's on Lafayette and South Portland? I've never been in but it's ALWAYS jumping.

are there any bars around the bedstuy/clinton hill border? i've seen a couple of dives - one on franklin and one on nostrand, but that's it.

Denim Lounge on Bedford near Fulton and Kush has a small bar.

my friend witnessed some guys cooking heroin in the bathroom at Rope. the management's take on this was **shrug** what are we supposed to do. also, every time i've been there i've felt i was in williamsburg. way too hipster for me.
maggie brown is a good neighborhood place. moe's is all right, but it's a very "dudes hitting chicks & vv" atmosphere.
i like frank's on fulton. real and unpretentious. -
275 Grand (between Lafayette & Clifton) has a great mix of people and a nice cozy atmosphere. The folks that work there are also super nice.
And Pillow Cafe (Myrtle between Ryerson & Grand) just got their liquor licence and will now be staying open later to cater to more of a nightlife crowd... The owners there are cool... -
amarichi on franklin and clifton

I only go to Rope on the monthly trivia nights, and thus far that's been great fun. (Then again, I'm kind of getting a repuation as a Rogue Trivia Goddess, so maybe it's just that I'm starting to get really popular on quiz night -- "...Oh, wait, you're here! Are you on anyone's team yet?...")

Moe's is a great low-key bar. Always have a good time there.

really? I've only been there on a few saturday nights and it was as far from low key (chilled) as I could imagine. I enjoyed it. but low key it was not.
In other news, I've never been to Sputnik but that place has been getting really good shows and I'm pissed I can't go see Rahzel this Friday. -
Boygabriel, Saturday is the one night I don't think it's chilled out. On Saturdays it becomes a destination bar and has a bouncer, etc. During the week it's always busy and full of seemingly friendly folks, but definitely low-key.

JELANI LOUNGE on waverly is nice and cozy, laid back

Speaking of Waverly in a thread about gunshots being fired there were swarms of police all over Waverly btw Park and Flushing last night after 3 shots were fired.
If nothing else he nabe is always entertaining. -

yeah, I was actually talking about weeknights also. And I guess "low-key" is subjective anyway, so it's kinda hard to say whether it is or isn't.
