i am baby-sitting my brother's car for the next few weeks but won't be around so much next week, are there streets remotely close to PH where i might park the car without having to move it so much?

thanks for any ideas.

  • The moment you cross Flatbush (into Park Slope) the streets have parking restricted only one day a week. So, you could get a whole week (well, 6 days) of parking without worry if you play your cards right.

I don't know about Crown Heights. I imagine it's as bad as PH.
  • awesome. never knew. thanks, medusa!
  • you might want to check on it occasionally - there's Con Ed and other street work popping up at a moment's notice. A sign goes up the day before they need the street cleared . . .
  • They actually tow the car and put it somewhere else. If you call the city for help they tell you that it is within a 10! block radius in every direction of where you left it. If you can't find the car then they take up to 24 hours to locate the vehicle. You may also subjected to fines if they park your car illegally. Overall it isn't fun if they move your car.
  • Next Monday is Alternate Side Suspension so if you find a Mon/Thurs spot in PH you only have to deal with it on Thursday.
  • I used to go over to The Slope to get that one day a week parking. But then I found that if I get out at 7AM I can often move my car in under 5 minutes. Doing that a couple of times a week is quicker than walking 15 min & back + parking time, even if it's only once.
  • yeah, but then i would have to get up before 7am! but that's good to know. parking around 9-10pm also seems quite easy - seems like a lot of people are coming and going but not too many cars on the street. got a spot on sterling btw washington & underhill 2 nights in a row. not some many other cars on that block with out of state plates, though.
