hi,

my dog went missing in the prospect park area this afternoon. She is a white American Pit Bull terrier. Shy temperment. Her name is Saoirse. pronouned Sher-Sha.

She is very important to me. Call me anytime if you find her/see her.

  • Have you called all of the vets and shelters in the area? It's really important to put the word out as soon as possible.
    I know theres a strong animal rescue presence on this board, so I'll bet alot of people will be looking out for your dog.
    Is she by any chance, microchipped? That helps tremendously in recovering lost dogs.
    Try hitting the area with flyers tacked up all around. Most people are empathetic to a lost animal and will keep an eye out to help get her back to you.
    Just look at the Italian Greyhound that was lost for a month in the same area. By word of mouth and sheer persistence the owners got her back.
    Best of luck.
  • hope vet helps owners get in touch with people who have found dogs. this worked for me when i found a dog in front of gorilla that had snuck out of a brownstone and started running wild down 5th ave.

    hope vet::: (718) 852-4219

  • Thanks everyone for all your support and advice. Turns out she was found -- near the brooklyn navy yard!! The wonderful couple posted an ad on CL and I just picked her up approx. 10 hrs after she got lost.

    all the best, Carolyn

  • YEA FOR THE RETURN OF MISS DOG!
    Great news.
    You guys on this site are the best on helping people with their animals.
  • We're pretty sure we saw your dog on Vanderbilt and Park dodging traffic around 2pm. We were really upset about it but seems she is a streetwise gal who just got a bit carried away. Glad everyone is ok. Saoirse by name, saoirse by nature, eh? :wink:
  • Whoa! Big escape she made there. Glad to hear she made it home safe and sound.
