Are vegans killing the Amazons???
I recently read an article on the destruction of the amazons due to the demand of soy products here in America???Apparently Soy has become a huge export for Brazil and people have been clearing thousands of miles just to produce soy milk for the yoga, enviromentalist vegans here in America....So are Park Slope vegans and vegetarians contributing to the demize of our ecological treasures and therefore the destuction our planet for the sake of their eating habits>?????

When I saw the title of this post the first image that came to mind was of a scrawny vegan dude (no offense against vegans) in combat with an Amazon. Heh.

The thing is: you can feed a lot more people by chopping down a forest and planting soy, than you can by chopping down a forest and running beef cattle. Rather than complain about vegans, maybe you could consider radical measures for reducing human population. Soylent Green, anyone?

Maybe we should start reducing the production of Babies in Park slope, there are very many of them, so people before you reproduce and teach your children to ingest soy, just think of the misery you are bringing to the helpless forest, with its parrots, its monkey, leopards but then again you wouldn't care and i really appreciate being moved to the BS section, i supose the deforestation of the amazons its mindless bullshitting time wasting topic!!!!!

Technically it's known as depilation rather than deforestation. -

Yeah , screw the damn war that's going on! We should all focus on saving the Amazon for the parrots , monkeys and leopards.

Actually, the bulk of soy doesn't end up in soy products like tofu and veggie burgers and other products usually consumed by vegans. Most of it goes into soybean oil and soy flour which is then put into good ol' American junk food.
The average Dorito-noshing, meat-eating American actually consumes more soy through processed foods than vegans do. Plus, overprocessed soy is REALLY bad for you. Edamame or any fermented soy product like tempeh or miso is good stuff, but apparently, the more processed soy is, the worse it is for you.
Howdy, Stranger!
