Any Good Pharamacies? CVS Eckered give wrong medicatio

Anyone have a good pharmacy?

Both the CVS & Eckerd on 9th street have made serious errors when filling my boyfriend's prescriptions for his autoimmune disease. Not only were these potentially fatal errors, but it then takes them days to weeks to get the proper medication. Very frustrating since it means he is in pain and has trouble working until the medicine comes in.

I would warn anyone who has a slightly tricky or unusual prescription to stay away from these pharmacies.

Does anyone know of a reliable pharmacy in Park Slope? Anyone been to Target?

    I use Slope Drugs on 5th Ave and 7th street. If you are close to CVS then just walk afew blocks. Lovely folks, no to a little wait.

    Health Aid Pharmacy on 7th Ave and 7th St (next door from Methodist) a good place, very busy, though. BUT, they deliver if yer to lazy to schlep :)

    i'm seconding lostingreenwoodhts recommendation of health aid. i take a ton of rx, and their owner/pharmacist, ayman, has been so immensely helpful to me. plus, they pick up your paper prescriptions and then deliver the drugs to you.

    I've used Neergaard on 5th Ave between 9th and 10th for a lot of meds over the last few years

    I love the guys at Palma Chemist. (7th Ave & Garfield) They are very patient and informed. Frank (?) is an ole sweetie.
    Prospect Gardens (7th & Union) also has a great pharmacist. Although it's a weird set up, with him behind and up high, and the aisles are so crowded, if you can make eye contact, he's totally ready to spend time with you. You just have to find that moment.
    Pharmacists are underutilized! They love being able to help!!

    Ansonia Chemist, 358 7th Ave (between 10th and 11th Streets). Lovely people. The pharmacist will spend time with you.

    Frank and Peter at Palma are absolute dolls, I adore them. I also used to go to Ansonia when I lived near there, John (I think) was great too.

    I don't know where you live.

    I use Oak Park Pharmacy on the circle (aka Bartel Pritchard Square) of the park (15th st entrance).

    The hours aren't that convenient, but they haven't made a mistake in 10 years, and they will fill while you wait and can deliver.

    I've had several times where I simply HAD to get meds right away (like when you are so sick you shouldn't even be out of bed) and Mohammed and staff will fill it on the spot if necessary.

    About "serious errors when filling my boyfriend's prescriptions":
    I hope one of you talks to your doctor about that, and reports it to the appropriate regulatory agency - the NYC Dept of Health, the State Attorney General's Office, whatever it is.
    That's way too serious to just vent about on an online message board!

    Maybe you're already done that part - if not, call 311

    omg, flexi, that place flips me out. everything in there is 100 years old. and when i went to get sudafed for a cold, real sudafed, the kind you have to sign for, the pharmacist assistant guy didn't know why i had to sign the paper.

    but i did stop by batlett (barett? barnett?) over on windsor/ppw yesterday and they were great.

    I don't buy other stuff there usually, but they've been very consistent with meds for me for 10 years........not a single issue.

    I use Ballard Pharmacy on PPW and Windsor. Friendly, helpful. I think if you need to buy non-prescription stuff then Rite Aid or CVS or the like are cheaper, but I prefer the personal service of a small pharmacy.

    Neergard, period. Kind of a funky spot, and with a Notary available at the pharma counter. They always remember me and the kiddos, even if I haven't been there for months...

    That has happened to me once (and I actually took the pill before I realized as the name, shape, and size are fairly similar). I was horrified that they (Duane Reade) would make a mistake like that, but they were pretty blaise when I took it back. Not surprising, given that it is Duane Reade though. Luckily no side effects from the mysterious drug. ;)

    I have always had excellent experiences with the guys at Ansonia
    on 7th Ave, between 10 & 11 St. They are closed on Sunday, but
    are open until 8 during the week, and close earlier on Saturday.

    The level of service and competence is high, and they will deliver.

    If I need something urgently on a Sunday, I have gone to Neergaard on
    5 Ave near 9th St. Considering the volume they do, they are very
    nice and organized.

    I tried Duane Reade since they are near my office, long waits for service,
    surly attitudes and what I would consider inferior grade generics.

    Neergaard on 7th Ave between President and Carroll is great. The pharmacists are really nice and also quite attentive - a doctor once misprecribed some medication and the folks at Neergaard caught it right away. If I had taken the meds, it could have caused me irreparable damage, so I was really lucky that Neergaard caught it. Needless to say, I lost the doctor but kept my pharmacy.
