that location has a certain pox on it - I think we should put it on Death Watch.

Subject: Brooklyn Burger Bar
Many of the finest restaurants in Brooklyn and the city in general have been closed by this department.
That's not to say there haven't been problems at the BBB, but they'll reopen soon. -
worst. service. ever.
-
but i thought the burger was good.
-
I truly love this place, contrary to everyone else here, lol.
-
I agree, food stinks.

I've never been, but seems you might be the only one who likes it....so, why do you like it? food? service? location? price? all of the above?
I'd love to see a great bar/restaurant there. It's so convenient. -
I think it's a little too pricey, for what you get-but I like the veggie burgers, and the apple martinis are huge. I know they're 9 dollars, but I'm a lightweight-so a big $9 martini, and I'm feeling good, lol.
I never had any problems with the service, but then again, I might have gotten too drunk to notice any real problems. -
i liked the burger ok, but it wasn't like the burger at 12th street.
oddly/curiously, they had a sauvignon blanc from a vineyard in brooklyn... huh? -

anybody like this place when they're not drunk?

-
My kids and I enjoyed it, the one night we were there. But my little one (who is 9) was just after a milkshake in a GIANT FISHBOWL - the burgers were secondary to her. I was too caught up in her delight at the mutant milkshake to have an objective opinion.

There's a vineyard in Brooklyn? Do you have any more information on this?

that's all i know. they offered it, i drank it. it wasn't half bad. i know nothing more.

I tried this place a few weeks ago for the first time. Sat at the bar and had a burger, fries and a beer. The burger was blah. Unevenly and overcooked, and just not that tasty. For a place called the Brooklyn Burger Bar I'd expect the burgers to be amazing.
Believe it or not, Grand Canyon diner on 7th makes a damn amazing burger. I may even put *gasp* above Bonnie's! Granted one is a griddle burger and the other is flame, but the ones from the diner are just so damn big and juicy. Other good ones are 12th St B&G, Johnnie Macks, and another suprise - Sante Fe Grill.
What I would like to see is a place selling White Castle-style sliders somewhere on the hood. For some reason I feel less guilty eating 4 tiny burgers than one giant one. -
oh man, I remember eating White Castle. I could eat like, 1000 bags in a sitting, lol.
Suddenly, I want to sit and watch Harold and Kumar go to White Castle... -

yeah all you have to do is to go down to 4th avenue in the mid-20's; or atlantic avenue a bit east of washington ave.
Suddenly, I want to sit and watch Harold and Kumar go to White Castle...
there you can get those slyders.
also come in handy if you're kind of stoppered up. -
Ouch!! The last time I ate at White Castle was about 8 years ago. I remember how long because I got so sick after the meal that is "stuck with me" or rather it didn't. I think gastrological comfort with White Castle has to do with age... if you are young (read that below 35) then endulge and enjoy.. I fear you will reach a point where the stomach just can't deal with it. Do the Nasty while ya can.
As far as the B Bar goes... time to re- state that I am related to "Charles" who is playing and booking the JAZZ at the place so I don't sound like a sencond generation shill..... The food is "ok" and on Thurs and Sat Nights the music is terrific!!
My bet is that it will be opened before next Thursday when the music happens. Come by and have a drink and listen to some Jazz!! -
veets, last time i ate white castle i was sick for 6 months. i think it gave me a parasite.
and it wasn't about being over 35, i was about 23 when this happened. -
I walked by the Burger Bar today and it looked like they had pulled a bunch of the big pieces of kitchen equipment (grill, grease traps, etc.) out onto the sidewalk. That must have been some health inspection.
-
scary. i ate at brooklyn burger about a wk ago. and i thought it was good, except i got these nasty fries the waiter recommended - with pesto. and i didn't touch those. but the burger was good.
what happens to the people who worked there? apparently this has happened more than once? -
Very likely the place will re-open tomorrow.. Unlike some other places in the Hood.. these closings are dealt with by quickly complying with what is required and a quick re-visit from the inspector.
When the Restaurant re-opens.. try the sweet Potatoe fries.. which are very good. -
oddly/curiously, they had a sauvignon blanc from a vineyard in brooklyn... huh?
There is a winery that has (or will have, I'm not sure) in W'burg....

I saw word of it when I was in the north fork this summer -
My question is: why is Brooklyn Burger Bar suspiciously absent from the rankings on the Health Dept's website??
-
Simian Sam.. If you are talking about the violations cited on last week's inspection being absent it might because it went in to the Labor day weekend and govt. offices were closed for afew days. I didn't check it myself right now.. so that is only a guess.
-
Is it still closed?
-
it was when I walked by at 3pm today
-
Still closed..awaiting the re inspection which they seem to be ready for... perhaps tomorrow!!
TOMORROW, TOMORROW.. IT'S ONLY A DAY AWAY! -

Nope - the restaurant isn't listed on the site at all, which is especially strange since they've been closed by the health dept before.
Hmmm. -
Hmmm... Now that is odd..
Howdy, Stranger!
