Whatcha doing with your holiday weekend? — Brooklynian

Whatcha doing with your holiday weekend?

As much as I hate to miss the parade, I'm getting out of town (first time since April, and first vacation out of town in a year) and CAN. NOT. WAIT. A bunch of friends and I rented a cabin in the Poconos and we're going to watch scary movies and play Karaoke Revolution and Scattergories and Uno and drink Boone's Farm and margaritas and make magic brownies and hike and look at waterfalls and ride go-karts and soak in the hot tub and grill inordinate amounts of meat. I'm taking a break from packing right now and I'm so excited I'm practically levitating!

What are other folks doing? Anything fun?

Well, it was going to be the Ballfields and the parade - but, can I go with you? Magic brownie, Boone's Farm, & hot tubs - YES! - It's 1970 all over again! Can I go, can I? Can I? Pleeeaase...
  • ballfields, parade, j'ouvert, cattyshack, maybe fixing my computer...
  • I rented a car, and I'm going to ghost ride it around the neighborhood all weekend.
  • From what I've read j'ouvert is a 2am party the night before right?
What's your experience? I'd be worried of hanging out in the park in the wee hours.

It's not in the Park. It's on Flatbush from GAP to Empire.
  • oh, and on sunday, there's a pretty cool party on the gowanus and a bbq at cattyshack.
  • I gonna go to this.

Does anyone know where these two things are gonna be held.
Are they outside somewhere or inside a building??

  • i think all the extra concert-y things are in the parking lot behind the museum. tickets cost, but i bet you can hear well from either of the parks flanking that block.

Alas, didn't see your post before we skipped town. :) I think we managed to accomplish everything I mentioned except for the Boone's Farm (we opted for beer, a vodka watermelon, margaritas, and a nice Bojolais instead) and the go-karts. Given how smashed everyone was all weekend
it's probably for the best that we didn't do that.

I also perfected my secret technique for grilling corn, if anyone's interested.
