I posted this on the Flickr Brooklynian group as well...

While many of the images added to the Brooklynian pool on Flickr and showing up here on Brooklynian.com are fantastic, there are some less than stellar images. I know my opinion will differ from others and this is a completely subjective topic, but shouldn't someone be editing out photos that are deemed to be subpar? Please share your thoughts, I am interested to see what others think of what has been a very fun addition to the site but probably needs some adjusting.

    I think it's waaay better than what our poor eyes were forced to see before.

    Horrible sights of mermaid boobies , butt nekkid dancing dudes , a huge monster gettin' punched in the gut , one dude on his monthly---ooh wait that was one of the members that took that piece of art. :-s

    Some you might not like , but everyone has their own taste. Lots of creativity here.

    I don't know about the whole adjusting thing. Some people might not like their photos edited out , cuz then they'll be upset. Like what was the whole meaning of adding this feature if your pics don't show up because of someone thinking they are not worth seeing?

    Yes it made sense to move this topic from the Brooklyn Photos forum, I could see how this topic would be completely irrelevant and unrelated...

    Well, if porn starts popping up on the Flickr group, I'd say yes by all means delete it. This is can be seen by children or accidentally by co-workers/bosses 8-[ :oops:

    As far as just suck-ass photos with no beauty or personal advertisements... we'll.. I'd be for clearing them.

    Is there a "rules for the photos"? Term and conditions to posting photos?

    Dumb photos are like dumb posts - you just move on. Like Em26 pointed out, that's very subjective.
    I hope more people put stuff in the pool so we get more variety (obviously, I'm here too much since I'm now sick of a few of those pix - but not here so much that I want to do even more mod work to edit photos)

    My only thing is that you don't really know what you are looking at. Some of the photos of buildings and houses you can figure out, but the random pictures of couples, and people always make me say "Are they folks who post here? What does that picture have to do with Brooklyn?" Like the picture of the cat jumping at the camera. I like that picture I just don't know its signifigance.

    i know that some (but not all -- DH's do) of the pictures do have names associated, if you look at them in flickr.

    a certain amount of randomness i think is cool -- kind of "this is what brooklyn looks like" without necessarily needing details.

    I was curious about that one too, so I clicked on it -- that takes you to the Flickr page for the photo. Turns out that's a cat up for adoption at the BARC shelter, which is Brooklynianian enough for me but your mileage may vary.

    A lot of this stuff seems unrelated to Brooklyn. When someone tags nearly 400 of his/her photos to show up here, I think that's borderline spammy. AlterArts.net, if you'd like to explain how that photo of someone's ass is relevant to Brooklyn, I'd love to hear it. [-X

    I can't find another thread about this, but I'm wondering how the Flickr photos are chosen. I feel like I always see the same 15 photos, even though there are over a thousand in the Flickr group. I've never seen my own photos, which is understandable given how many photos are on the group, but I've also seen the same few more than twice.

    How random are the photos?

    Flickr has an algorithm that "randomly" chooses the photos. In reality, several people have noted that the randomness is somewhat questionable as certain photos show up regularly and others never seem to appear. I posted some photos very early on when the Brooklynian pool was first activated. One photo in particular showed up regularly, and the remainder appeared occasionally, except for one which I've never seen.

    I can tell you that contrary to popular belief neither Tish James or Hakeem Jeffries are pulling any strings to have their photo show up almost daily, its just some quirky random thing. I'm not sure that there is anything that can be done to make your photos appear or the photos that show up regularly (subway yards) disappear from the upper corner.
