  • Caseeopele, sweetie... I am just thinking that you are the most considerate person ever.. offering to hold on to those greeting vards. I am also laughing because am I remembering this correctly(?) that afew months ago there was a post about lost undergarments or something, left at same location, with similar pick-up offer. If that is true.. you made me smile!!
  • Haha, yeah it was someone's weekend bag or something. I really enjoy reuniting people with lost objects, not for any reward or something. It just makes me feel good. I really hope the person sees this post or the one on craigslist especially since some of the cards are sympathy ones. That's such a sweet compliment, veets! If you're ever near [redacted], please stop by. You're one of my favorite posters on here so you'd get the "one of my favorite people" discount!
  • Hey sweetie... Many thanks... I guess your willingness to re-unite people with their left-behind possesions cues me in to a time in this hood where shop owners knew most of their customers and knew the people would realize they had left their parcel behind. In some cases the shop owner even knew where the person lived and might have dropped the left behind item off on their way home.

Anyway...Compliment accepted and though I am old enough to have mothered 2/3rds of the people who post here... I nevertheless feel so connected to this site because I am so connected to this neighborhood and it gives me such joy to know that so many people who post here (and live here) are so postive about living in park Slope.
  • I'm very fortunate that I know many of my customers and they know me. I have been at my job for almost 7 years but I like getting to know them. Some are harder to befriend, it's like they want to see if you're going to stick around before they get friendly. I love the fact that some of my favorite customers were people that hardly spoke to me in the beginning. I know how it feels going into the same store over the years and always seeing different people. It's nice to see a familiar face behind the counter!

And as for the mothering, that's one of the reasons I like you. Your candor and sense of humor remind me of my mom who is the coolest woman I know! (Please understand that's a compliment, my mom is way cooler than I am, loves animals as much as I do, and is my best friend.) :D
  • I so accept that compliment. I raised 3 kids who think I am cool... and I am not that old.. in my 50's... but u will see that some of the real freedom of expression comes to you when you get a bit older. I don't fully understand that change so I can't explain it to you. Now that concept that I would be more free as I got older was lost on me as well at some point.. ... in 1969 I thought I was expressing myself all over the place!!
