Just wanted to let folks know about Jewel in the Crown, a new full-service spa that recently opened up on Union Street (right by Nostrand). The Jewel offers manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, etc. I got a mani-pedi over the weekend and it turned out great. Plus the environment is serene -- a welcomed change from some of the nail salons in the area.

I believe that the owner of Tavern on Nostrand sold the place to the young woman who now owns the place. There is also a boutique next door that just opened up . . . can't remember the name, but it is also worth a look.

I just happened upon the ribbon cutting ceremony last Friday. It's a nice place. I got some free grub and a 10 minute chair massage. Very nice.

Thanks for the post on the spa. I went last week and had a great experience. Staff was accomodating, and the services i received were excellent! The prices are decent are what you expect. Not quite Manhattan prices...but affordable. But when it comes to yourself, nothing is too expensive right? AND...you can buy instant gift certificates from the website! Have to purchase with credit card, but you can email it to your loved one. It was quick and easy. Crown Heights is on the rise!

Probably because few men get pedicures on a regular basis so its a lot of work.

I mean, come on, have you seen some of the feet guys show during the summer? It should be a crime for them to take off their socks. :shock:

Just want to reiterate my plug for this establishment. I just went again today and had a great experience. My mani/pedi came out really nice and the staff was very pleasant. Plus the place smells great. I tried to purchase the aroma diffuser they use (the scent I was drawn to is called "Bloody Orange"), but apparently they have run out due to high demand. Will defintely try to make this a bi-monthly thing. Hopefully establishments like this get more support from the neighborhood so they can stick around.
