Day Care Service for Middle-Income Families — Brooklynian

Day Care Service for Middle-Income Families

msl2003
edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
My name is Madeline Lewis. I am a resident in Community District Eight. I am also a journalist at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. At present, I am writing a story about day care service in the communities of Prospect Heights and Crown Heights. I have heard that middle-income families struggle to find affordable day care service for their children in these communities. I would like to speak to parents who do not qualify for subsidized day care services and have had a difficult time finding inexpensive day care services for their child.

Please contact me as soon as possible. My deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 18. My email address is [email protected].

Thank you.

  • I'm sure this is a big problem. From what I understand, there are not a lot of daycare choices in the area. I think at least one person on this board uses Eladia's Kids on Flatbush Ave.

Beyond that, it's "babysitters" for many parents, and they are not cheap. It's not unheard of for some parents spend almost their entire take-home pay just on the nanny bill (making the second parent's income pretty crucial).
