Lets hug — Brooklynian

Lets hug

In light of all the recent arguing on almost every thread, I thought I'd try and change things up a bit. How about anyone who wants to, post what your favorite thing about the neighborhood is? It can be anything you want. Lets share some positive things that make all of us enjoy being here. And please, please, please, no judging or arguing!

I'll start.

I like my corner bodega, King of Classon. Those guys are always so nice to me every time I stop by.

  • My favorite thing is the vegan cake at Brooks Valley, the crab cakes at Le Toukouleur and the coffee at bushbaby.... oh yeah and the beautiful girls.
  • Tiny cup and their free wifi- egg and cheese panini and an iced coffee if less than $5.00 and i can surf the net all day! Plus those orange couches are really comfy
  • I love that I live amongst the most eclectic, bizarre mix of people I could ever imagine. I also love that I'm a one minute walk from both Joloff Restaurant and Kush -- those places are impossibly delicious.
  • -I love seeing ppl that watched me grow up still kicking and alive in the hood.
-I love seeing my kids playing w/ my friends kids on the same blocks we played on.

-I love the communal feeling we have amongst each other.
-I love the bball tournaments played in jhs 113 park(rothchild to us oldheads)
-I love the country house for being open in the wee hours(hard to find somethnig to eat at 4am!)
    - I love the ppl who have the "House NOT for sale" signs in their brownstone windows
    - I love seeing the oldtimers, young adults, teens and kids rocking thie CH shirts w/ pride on CH day

I love knowing the history of the neighborhood( there are actually some churches in CH/FG that were a safe haven for slaves who cAme through the underground railroad)
    I love Clinton Hill...

I love everything that you love bknest!

I think I'll put up one of those "House NOT for sale" in my brownstone window. Great idea! I just hope its enough to make the statement that I want, that there are a number of us here NOT selling and that the landscape of the neighborhood may be changing, but it will hopefully level off and never become Brooklyn Heights or Park Slope....

Oh, and I love and support my favorite businesses and business owners who have maintained a vested interest in not only the neighborhood, but the greater Clinton Hill/Fort Greene community:

    275 Grand
    Brooklyn Moon
    A. Bistro
    Smooch
    Luz
    Kush
    The Greene Grape
    Joloff
    Eva Daniels Realty
    Embora Wellness Studio
    Addy & Ferro
    Pillow
    Sisters Community Hardware
    Karrot
4W Circle of Art & Enterprise
  • I love the way that Fort Greene and Clinton Hill are resistant to change. Living in NYC, you need to accept the inevitability that things will constantly change, but that doesn't mean you have to take it lying down. And our neighborhoods certainly aren't laying down!! As opposed to hoods like PSlope or Williamsburgh that embrace any and all change, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill are selective about it...and I love that.
