Anticipating taxstasy (fleeting state of bliss achieved when opening refund until you realize it was your money all along).

Does anyone know who does and doesn't qualify? I didn't see a check last year, but then again I'd probably paid less than $400 tax at that stage.

    Limited details, but it seems to say all homeowners will get the rebate. I'm not applicable.

    Incidentally, property taxes seem to me to be a bad idea, since you may have to pay more if your house appreciates, even if you're not making any more money as income. Doesn't strike me as a fair or efficient system.

    I think you should have gotten one last year too, unless you hadn't been there long enough and it went to the previous owner. If we don't get a check this time around, I say we complain to 311.

    Mine came today. We should enjoy them while we can because I hear this is the last year unless the legislature passes a bill to have them go forward.

    So I got the NYC finance people on the phone, and they said I had to be enrolled in some special "star program" to receive the rebate. Which will take 6 weeks, but they're sending the paperwork.

    Plus, they've never updated their records since I bought my place 15 months ago, despite the deed being filed, so it's still got the old owner's name and address, so of course I didn't get a check. Supposedly I can update their records on their website, except it didn't work properly for the address and didn't give me the option to fix the account name. Hmmm... I can see chasing this down taking up more than $400 worth of my time.
