New bar on Bergen and Vandy! - Barrette
Went there last night it was good atmosphere, but i have to say that it seems that the owners decided only to hire big breasted good looking women, nothing wrong with that except that they had 3 people behind the bar the size of my bathroom when one person could have been enough. Other that that no complaints, the people who came from Soda late night did give it a kick other than that it was all lame yuppies...

whats it called

I wasn't there, but I was across the intersection at Beast and people from the new bar were coming in to use the restroom because the one at the new place was broken.
One girl stopped at our table to chat and said it's called "Barrette." She said they had burlesque dancers, but didn't know if that was going to be a regular thing. -
went in at 1am last night. didn't see no big breasted bartenders.

is it barrette or beret? I was confused.

but yeah, apparently burlesque dancers. woo.
broken bathroom seems a mite sketch. I'll check it out in a few weeks. -
my friend just started bartending there. he has no breasts. I think the name is barette and the go-go dancers are supposed to be a regular thing on the weekends. Booze and booty, a great recipe for whipping people into a sexually frustrated frenzy.

I hope they fix the can! -

She definitely said Barrette.
I hear the owners also have a bar on Staten Island called Scrunchies. :P -

Not an accurate description of the crowd unless anyone who is gainfully employed and not riding a double framed superbike from the future is a yuppie. The crowd was basically Moe's without the locals. Fort Green professionals, stylish and cute womenfolk from the superior land across Atlantic Ave.
Good space, bar food, good music. When the best bar in the neighborhood is a Korean restaurant there's a problem. Hopefully this spot will work that out. -
was there on sat night. didn't see boobs. had one of their signature cocktails. and then another. so good.
cash only. -
I will be on the lookout for said breasts some time this weekends
Is NooNa really that good? Where can I go locally just to dance to some disco tunes??? -
I was at the Barrette opening night party. Place seems ok. Free drinks that night so it made the night a little bit more special. Not sure I would go back, but then again, I don't get over to Vandy to often.

dancing at noona depends on the DJ and the crowd. like a lot of dance spaces, basically. the DJs go back and forth between soda and noona quite often, so you never know who is gonna show up where. if you hit noona on a great night, though, you'll get super dancy. if not, well, not.

personally, I really like it.
and for the record, I did not start a mosh pit in beast the last time I heard them playing stigmata. was too busy dealing a (not for real money!!!) poker game. -
i went to barette last night! and walked past zaytoons! both put a smile on my face.
but. i dropped 16 bux on a jameson neat and one of those pink elephants beers. i guess their prices for drinks are a bit much now cause they just opened?
either way, the place was cute and i was tempted to sit up in the crazy booth with the streamers, but the guy i was with wasn't feelin it. -
Any more information on the burlesque/go-go dancing? A weekend thing? A one-time thing? Anyone?

I'm going tonight. If there's no dancers I'll happily fill in. So to speak. -
We just went there tonight -- very nice and fun. Very tasty cocktail menu too (hic).
Prices aren't cheap, but the husband's Jameson on the rocks was a very generous pour, so it seems to even out.
Also: for now it sounds like there's burlesque on Tuesday and Friday nights. Why they wouldn't get some gals in tonight of all nights (First Saturday) is beyond me, but the staff seemed oblivious to the fact that it *was* First Saturday. When I told them they'd probably get slammed later after they were commenting that it was slow for a Saturday, both said, "Yeah? Really?"
Sure enough, we left at 11-ish, just as people starting pouring down Vanderbilt.
Oh dear. -

Just FYI a jamesons is a standrad $8 shot and the Delirium Tremens is a very expensive Belgium import. $8 for a bottle isn't too crazy. If you had done a shot and a sam it would have been $12 i'm betting.
I was in Barrrette a week or so ago. Nice place friendly staff. -

I was just there Saturday night. No burlesque dancers. I was spotted by a fellow Brooklynian.com'er though, which was somewhat surreal
I will definitely be there next Friday -
I may swing by there one night this week, possibly friday. my hilarious (with another brooklynian's) trip to atlantic city on saturday kinda made my weekend plans involve the garden state pkwy. if friday = burlesque, I'll show up. the barrette signature cocktail is enough to draw me in. delish.
-
oh, and just to note if anyone from barrette is reading - I'd totally show up on tuesday night but the whole poker night at cattyshack (for charity! not illegal!!) on tuesday nights has kinda taken over that one night of my life. so I have to wait til friday to see the wonder.

Barrette got an excellent review in L Magazine:

I love that place, I'm so glad they opened across the street from me. -
I was there last night. the grilled cheese = teh awesome. the barrette cocktail was yum. the jalapeno cocktail tasted like soap.
at some point the crowd got horribly wrong. well. young and loud. shrill. so we fled to beast, my new nabe safe haven.
young men: barrette after 11 p.m. appears to be a great place for young women.
old folk: barrette after 11 p.m. cranks the music to the omg, this is so loud level. -

Fakk, I was there last night, no women, I left at like 11:15 though for Soda which was DEAD. I had their grilled cheese last weekend though, it definitely owns, and it was courtesy of a fellow Brooklynian.com'er...

It's tiny though. Was there dancing??? -
there was singing along and twitching. didn't see burlesque.
-
Checked out the place last night. They really did a nice job making this into a bar with a light food menu. It's not a dive! Yippie! It wasn't packed but a good amount of people hanging out drinking. I will totally go back again. Let's make the next DH happy hour there! There are two huge booths at the front.
-
was there last week on a caturday. overall big thumbs up.
especially the stage. wurv the stage.
only glitch was the lack of table service for food
the bartender had to schlep the food over while tending to a full bar, which is not optimal -
I'm going to this place tonight with Brookefetish and his wife.
Just incase you care.
Oh, and I better see some breasts. -

Just don't be one of the crowd whooping it up outside at 3.30 am, please.

We went last night and it is a cool place. Nice vibe and good crowd, and pretty cool design.
While I did not see any breasts (sigh) I did see two burlesque dancers, which, in my experience, were only alright. They probably let anyone with a feather boa dance
But whatever, it was still fun.
Problem with the way the place is set up is that if ANYONE is standing in the center of the bar, no one seated can see the "performer."
Also, there were a LOT of guys with backpacks. WTF? Made me feel like I forgot my algebra book
Overall it was a good place. It is cash only and there is no table service. Also, when I bought two drinks and two grilled cheese sandwiches (GREASY!) the friendly bar tender kept all my change. I waited around for him to give it to me and I think he just assumed I was going to tip him 8 bucks on a 22 dollar tab. But whatever, it evened out over the night I guess, since I just tipped a lot less later, but it made me feel guilty.
Still, the vibe is good, so the night worked out well, despite a few negatives.
Also, I think the owner of Beast was there with a bunch of her friends. Are they spys? j/k
