hahaha, if only I could stay out that late any more. I'm getting old.
Just don't be one of the crowd whooping it up outside at 3.30 am, please. -

knowing the owner of beast, that's doubtful. she lives in the nabe and supports nabe businesses. beast was actually very nice to barrette's soft opening party and allowed their patrons to use beast's bathrooms when the ones at barrette all broke. like many of us, the beast owner and her friends just want to see the neighborhood become more neighborhoody and awesome. yay!
Also, I think the owner of Beast was there with a bunch of her friends. Are they spys? j/k -
i was there last night till about 2:30 and had a pretty good time. the dancers were pretty cool ( there names are Amber Alert and Pandora ) and the prices on everything were really cheap. only thing that kind of confussed me was trying to figure out if the place was a gay bar. my gaydar might be a little off but i would say about 3/4 of the women there were gay and about 1/2 of the men.
i make these assumptions based on the number of same sex make out sessions i saw.
not that there's anything wrong with that... ( spoken with Costanza like inflection )
all in all a cool place. -
I too popped in for about 49 seconds with a lady friend, however we were soaked and sober... with nowhere to sit, we skidaddled

Wow, that was a joke (hence the j/k after it). I didn't REALLY think they were spys. I mean, how good would they be if I could recognize them? They didn't even have fake goatees or dark sunglasses

Yeah, sorry pen, that was me at 3:30 this Saturday.
Went briefly super late, nice-size crowd, super drunk, loud music. -

What about Groucho Marx glasses... -
Does anyone know what kind of happy hour specials, if any, they have and whether they have different stuff on various days of the week? Might help in figuring out a date for Cool the Kid's proposal for a board happy hour there...

I think it's 4-7 during the week. it's either a 2 for one thing on pints/well drinks or a half off thing. can't remember. -

Ah, Pen, I wouldn't expect anything less. -
Yea, I saw this place walking by the other day. I'm new to the area so I'm not sure what the scene is like around here. Would you guys say it seemed worthwhile? What do drink prices tend to be at bars on Vandy?
-
Don't know about Barrette in particular, haven't made it over there yet, but in general drinks prices on Vanderbilt are about $5 a pint and $6 - $7 for a mixed drink with some pretty good happy hours in the area where the prices are cheaper.

Oooh -- but Barrette has Happy Hour between 2 and 4 AM! At least on the weekends. I went there at, like, 4 on Saturday and ordered a beer and the bartender offered (he readlly didn't NEED to, it was closing) that it was buy on get one free. I thought that was super nice of them.
Howdy, Stranger!
