Help!!! Can I borrow baby paraphenalia for 2 days?

Whoa. I have a crazy situation in which my Amish pen pal of 14 years has unexpectedly accepted my invitation to come visit me and my fiance with her husband and 11-month-old son. Yes. Really, genuinely Amish, like no-electricity-using, buggy-driving, bonnet-wearing, beard-but-no-mustache-sporting Old Order Amish people from Lancaster County.

This throws me into a tizzy for a number of reasons, not least of which is that I'm sure they don't have the nimble McLaren stroller that every Park Slope mom seems to have - possibly they don't even have a stroller at all - let alone a carseat (they'll come by train). Or a portable playpen/crib, high chair or etc.

Can anyone lend me any of the above paraphenalia for Oct. 8 & 9? I will be forever in your debt. I will be in your debt in my next life. This is going to be beyond awesome, but could also be beyond disastrous and I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Check craigslist, I seem to recall running into cheap, possible free, baby stuff in the furniture section. Also check out stoop sales. I always see kids stuff at those. Good luck!

but sounds like these parents have a different way of doing things
and won't actually be needing that Bugaboo

a car seat is (of course) a different story -- you have to have one of those to put a little kid in a car
so take the train!
