Where to meet girlfriends? i'm new here...

  • I'd be up for a brunch (if I'm in town) or a ladies night out--maybe instead of drinks we could just go for dinner or to a tea lounge somewhere with a fair amount of room.

I've actually only looked in but the tea lounge on Union at 7th looks pretty spacious. According to the website, next Tuesday is free of any events there so that could be an option if enough of us are ready for a meet-up. Just an idea...
  • Subject: Sounds fun

I'd love to join. Branch, tea, early drink, anything's fine! I will be out of town next next weekend, but I'm usually around---let's make a plan :-)
  • I'm kind of late to these postings but they just caught my eye and I'd like to join in if it's not too late! I've lived in the area for a bit but would love to make more friends here in Park Slope - so I can stop coaxing my Manhattan friends out for brunch. Let me know if you've made plans to meet up or not yet.

    Thanks!
  • I'd definitely be up for a "ladies night out" or "couples (or singles, though i'm part of a couple) brunch"...
My fiancé and I moved to PS (Boerum Hill border) in June, and we're looking to make friends in the neighborhood - many of our friends live in Manhattan, and since we all work so much it can be difficult to get together! I'm in my 20s and work far fewer hours than my fiancé, so I have many evenings alone when I'd love to meet new Brooklyn friends! (I am very happily engaged, so only looking for friendship)

Please include me in the PMs! :D
  • The best place to meet people is at a performance of Fidelio by the Brooklyn Repertory Opera at the Brooklyn Lyceum, 227 Fourth Avenue at President Street . Check this out:

Great music, entertainment, thoughtful people, totally non-threatening, but a little edgy (grand opera in an old, run down public bath house). Cute women and men. They also serve beer, coffee and snacks.
  • yeah, i agree about the tea lounge. that would be a good place to meet! hopefully we can get a few couches or something all right by each other, or theres a big table in the back that we could use maybe? we should all exchange myspace/facebook or something if we have it too, so we can all know who each other are....
  • The thing is, it's not as easy to accomodate a large group for brunch as it is for drinks - at most PS restaurants space is pretty limited. That's why I originally pm'd the few folks who'd expressed interest instead of setting up a global event. It was certainly never my intention to leave anyone out.

I suggested we meet this Sunday, October 21, at 10:30 am. If you can make it and would like to come, please PM me by Thursday. Once I have a head count, I will try to get a reservation at Flatbush Farm or someplace similar. If the group is very large, we can meet at the Tea Lounge instead. Sound good?
  • There's always here... You've made so many friends already!
  • sprite, count me in.
  • still in too, although Tea Lounge isn't a bad idea either. . .
  • Thanks guys. FYI, I'm assuming anyone who said yes already is still coming; if anything's changed, please pm me. I'm trying to keep the responses via pm so I don't miss anyone. Thanks.

Try Circles Cafe at P.P.W. and 15th st. They are pretty good with groups.
  • How's Circles, just in general? I haven't had the chance to stop by there yet. I'm somewhat lazy, and Tea Lounge is just a block closer.... heh
  • So where are we meeting at on Sunday?
  • Yes, where and how will we know which group/table?
  • Hi all -

    Date: Sunday, Nov 21

    Time: 10:30

Place: Black Pearl Cafe on Union (it's 2 doors down from the Tea Lounge).

Black Pearl is a large place, and they're opening early to accommodate us. Brunch is $16.95 per person (because we're a large party) and that includes unlimited mimosas. 8)

I made a reservation under the name "Sprite." The guests:

    myself
    ccs
    Bergenites +1
    OpossomQueen
    cabaki
    sjknoll +1
    quijibo
    VerucaSalt
    fpgirl

I have to call back later today with my credit card number, so if anyone wants out, please PM me ASAP. Ditto if I've missed anyone.

    Thanks
  • so how'd it go? i wish i could have made it.
  • So bummed i had to miss it. Had an illness in the family. How did it go? I definitely want to go to the next one so please fill me in.
  • It was fun! Too bad so many missed out (there were only 5 of us), but we had a good time (at least I did!)

Anyone want to schedule another meeting sometime soon? I think meeting at a low-key pub or dessert place (Chocolate Room, anyone?) on a weekday evening 9-ish would be fun! Any days that work best for others?
  • lets schedule something for next week. how many girls are there going to be total? we can just meet at the tea lounge because i dont think we're going to have a huge group or anything! we should all exchange myspace or facebook links so we know who each other are. mine is www.myspace.com/ewarpinski---Add me and send me a message letting me know you're from here!
  • Brunch was fun. (Good job, Sprite!)

Any suggestions for a day for the tea lounge?
  • Subject: I would love to

Hi all! I was out of town and missed last meating but I would love to join next time! Looking forward to it.
  • tea lounge sounds like a good idea. less formal, no reservations needed =)

Tuesdays and Thursdays work best for me.

    Looking forward to it!
  • Don't forget to come to the PH happy hour this Thursday. Hope to see some of you there!
  • or ... if you play poker, bingo or spades, come to cattyshack tonight!
  • I keep forgetting about poker night! I don't play, but I may try to get over there tonight to watch, because I'm mighty curious about this fierce competition.
