walked by this morning and saw the gate down and a sign saying they were gone after 20 years of business.
so now they're open, and there's an open space across the street where western union used to be. and tons more as the blocks go down...
i think the tea lounge should open a branch up here, give connecticut muffin a run for their money. but that's just me. anyoneknow anything?

Wait, I thought you hated the Tea Lounge because the mothers are their with children who disturb your conversations?? Why would you want that to open up?

never said i didn't like the tea lounge, ever. i believe the incident i brought up nearly a year ago that happened at the tea lounge happened to a friend of mine. then again, why would i want to open that up again when really i wanted to talk about what might come in the video store's place.
perhaps they can open troll school at that location and you can be the first enrollee -

go back and reread your post about the Tea Lounge. -
considering the board search function is down, and on google i have to go through 800+ results, finding this old post where i said i "hated" the tea lounge is kind of impossible. please let me know when you find it.
NOTE TO MODS: can you please check the IPs of both bklyngirl718, and WTgirl? i have a feeling we have a sock-puppet situation going on. and i'd hazard a guess that this person might also be kensingtonmom. -
mod note:
brooklynpotter: the IPs are different.
WTGirl & bklyngirl718: the rules of the board ask that you be nice. so. be nice. stick to the topic. if you want to attack brooklynpotter for no good reason, you'll get a time out.
to discuss either of these two notes, please PM me. -

I was merely surprised - as was the other poster - at the suggestion of opening another Tea Lounge, after that horrible missive of last winter, which was started by the OP, and labeled a rant.
Seeing the few responses on this topic, I am kicking myself for taking the bait. -
here was brooklynpotters comment from last year (aug 2006)...looks like he likes tea lounge to me....
"i don't know. i went to hippie summer camp and hippie boarding school and hippie art school, and the tea lounge feels a lot like those places to me. musty and comfortable. (and not surprisingly, a lot of my former classmates live in the neighborhood and i have run into any number of them there).
it's kind of like the dorm living room, or a dusty old summer house. don't know, i just like it there." -
Post in question is here: http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32291
Excerpt:brooklynpotter wrote: --sitting at the tea lounge, there were two children running by who smashed her lunch onto the floor with their fists. my friend approached the mom, who then told her that she should know better than to leave her lunch on the edge of the table. then refused to buy her a new lunch. she went to talk to the manager, and he wouldn't give her a new lunch either. her lunch was a bagel

I was just thinking that it was a matter of time when that place went under. I remember when they first opened in that hole in the wall on 16st. Believe it or not I actually used to work for his brother who owned the 24hr deli on the corner of 16th (different owners now), running the cash register and stocking drinks when I was a kid.

I won't exactly be waiting with baited breath to see what trash opens in that space now. How about another 'Subway'? -

It seem pretty obvious from those posts that BP likes the place just fine, she just doesn't like the way the children in question behaved there. And she's right not too.

sometimes people just need stuff to complain about. It's the basis for all love/hate relationships. -

Isn't that an Erasure song? -

and some people like to insult other people, even though they've been asked not to. funny thing. -
Seems to me that complaining about somebody else's complaint 9 freaking months after she posted it crosses the line from "just needing something to complain about" into "maybe you've got a personality disorder." You should get that checked out, bklyngirl.
I mean, sheesh, in the time you've spent remembering bklynpotter's complaint and waiting around for an opportunity to bring it up, you coulda spawned a brand-new brat for folks to complain about. At least that way you might've generated some fresh, new discussion. -

I didn't remember it until someone else brought it up.

And for some reason, I am confused as to why it's ok to call a newbie poster (on another thread) a retard, yet it's not OK to be curious about the mostive of someone who often starts inflammatory threads.
does posting more than anyone else give one seniority in the "hands off" department? -
