I'm reposting this here because the Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens board is too quiet. I figure, if I strayed all the way to Smith street, surely someone else here may have done the same!

My post is about Carniceria:

Maybe i was seeing things as i cruised down Smith Street on my bike, but I could've sworn I saw Realtor signs in the windows at Carniceria (241 Smith/Douglass)

Was I imagining things? Or is this place already out of there after only a couple of months?

It always smelled so good the few times I passed by but I never had a chance to stop in.

    speaking of restaurant mysteries (also on smith street, sorry peeps) i have NEVER seen Sapodilla open.

    I love Caribbean food and have tried a few of the others in the area (stir it up, cafe dore, dean street etc). I have wanted to go to Sapodilla but it seems closed no matter what time I'm around there.

    I've never seen it open either. Looks like we will never have the chance to go there. According to the last post it's been indeed been "done-zo" for a while.

    It's pretty sad, but when I see a new restaurant open in the area, I always assume it will close in a year.

    Subject: caribbean food

    For those of you who love caribbean food and dont mind going to Flatbush and Bergen, then you would be in for a treat at Sugar Cane. Ever go to a restaurant that every dish is good, has great atmosphere, great drinks,especially the sorrel)live music and reasonable prices? I am not related, just a fan. Whenever my family visits that is the place they like to go to.The food is awesome and you will need a doggie bag for the amount of food they give you.

    And you never will. I saw a "for rent" sign in the window the other day.
