Fun on the commute — Brooklynian

Fun on the commute

This morning I had the pleasure of witnessing a delightful exchange on the Q.

At 7th Ave, a middle-aged woman boarded and asked a 30-ish woman to move her large bags from the seat next to her, so that she might sit down. The younger woman moved the bags, but not without getting all indignant. After politely pointing out that you're not allowed to take up seats with anything but your own ass, the younger lady let fly a bunch of fucks, bitches, etc. Funny thing was, the young lady was all, "who do you think you are, telling me to put my bags on the floor (like everyone else) so you can sit down?!" Nice - accuse someone else of being self-centered because you can't have a seat for your bags.

FWIW, the middle-aged woman was very poised; she showed the strength and patience that only a mom could muster. I was hoping that it would escalate just a little more, though - I really wanted to give my best Sam Jackson and "tell that bitch be cool!"

  • Yeah, I had a fun commute yesterday when the trains were really messed up making me half an hour late for an audition. The 3 went local, and this bitch was blasting her ghetto blaster as if we all actually enjoyed her taste in music. Really rude.

    And modern R & B makes me carsick. :-&
