  • I once knew someone who fell into the habit of, while drunk, allowing his equally-drunk aspiring tattoo artist friends to "practice" on his forearm.

Said forearm is now entirely blacked out.

  • as much as that guy is gonna regret that in a few years... eh... weeks, i gotta say it is beautifully done.
  • yea, that spiderman tattoo is sweet
  • I think getting a tattoo makes some people feel like rebels. (See, I'm not a corporate drone - I've got a tatttoo!) Obviously that's not what motivated alafairnadia and caseopele - but their example adds to the tattoo cool factor, because their chosen body art says "I know who I am and what I want." I think a lot of people want to feel that way, and don't get that you have to feel that way before you get the tattoo.

That's why I can't see myself ever getting a tattoo. I doubt I could find a design I'd still love and want in 5 years, much less 20. Guess I'm just fickle. :P

Not fickle, just smart! Too many people don't think that way and end up getting impulse tattoos. If you can't think of a design you'll still love in 5, 10, 20 years then it's very smart not to get one. :)

I agree with rtraindweller, that spiderman tattoo is very well done though.
  • i'm very hesitant when it comes to getting tattoos. i'll sit on an idea for months if not longer. my first tattoo i came up with and drew it on myself every few weeks and still liked it. unfortunately it was done by the worst artist in NYC and I'm currently working on getting it fixed (live and learn?). my second tattoo though I know I'll love for years and cannot wait to have more work done by that artist. I've been sitting on my idea for my next piece for over two years now. I still want it, and eh once I have that much disposable cash, I'm gettin it damnit.
  • I suppose if you sit on an idea for a couple of years and you *still* want that tat, then it is something that you'll probably love for 5, 10, 20 years.

I've never wanted a tattoo, so you won't be seeing me in the parlor.
  • hahahaha. good thing NSFW doesn't mean shit in my office, we're all a buncha sick twisted weirdos who send each other gross stuff all day. Very productive marketing agency we are!
  • wow. while a sweet action and what better way to be tribute to someone's life than with ink, but wow. research artists first. seriously.
