Have you spoken with other business owners about the travails of getting a license? You're not special - no one is making a dedicated effort to deny you. Buck up and do what you've gotta do.
First of all who are you? I'm asking for help redacted -- modWhatever happened to those other businesses it's on them, I'm commenting on my business. Check this my friend don't comment on this subject again. As far as everyone else thank you for the advise. -
What was redacted?
And I am NOT Bruce Ratner's Love Child, you guys are horrible! -

The part that was redacted is something flemingbanquet said that violated the site rules. He's been PM'd about it by a mod.
And I am NOT Bruce Ratner's Love Child, you guys are horrible!
And the stuff under our names used to be customizable but we lost that due to the site renovations -- your ability to change that may or may not come back. But we had a thread a long time ago that I can't find now where everyone suggested what it would say there according to how many posts you've made. There are lots of Bruce's love children here -- you're not alone.

Anything is possible my fine feathered friend
mod note: just so you know, KwaC is most likely a member of or affiliated with the 77th precinct. you may want to investigate some of what he's saying, because in all likelihood it'll turn out to be true.
What is he saying thats true?
I don't know - I don't have a vested interest in whether or not you get a liquor license, so I'm not investigating whether or not there were shootings outside of your establishment. I'm not certain why you came onto this site, asking for help, and then throwing all of the comments given into the faces of the folks giving them.
if you want a liquor license, walk over to the 77th with a good book and ask to speak with someone. sit around and wait. find out what the problem is. find out how to fix it. if this business means that much to you, that should be helpful. if you think your service record will help you in this pursuit, wear a t-shirt from your branch of the armed services. someone, I'm sure, is ex-military there and will strike up a conversation. that could work in your favor. of course, if someone there has a kid that just got his legs blown off in iraq, it might not. who knows. give it a shot. it's your liquor license you're so worried about. -

Me? I'm a local business owner that was also in negotiations to purchase an establishment that had an existing wine and beer license. In order for the venture to make sense for me, I would have needed a full liquor license. I'm someone that looked in to the steps necessary to obtain a license. I'm someone that spoke with other bar owners (past and present) and small business advisers to get an idea of a realistic timeframe and possible hang-ups in obtaining a license. In addition, I'm someone that knows that, if you want to be your own boss, you can't make excuses and you can't throw yourself a pity party when obstacles are encountered.
All that being said, kudos to you for getting the ball rolling... now follow through.
Oh, and don't be an asshat on local message boards when you're going to be counting on locals to be your patrons. -

I'm not throwing a pity party or being an asshat, whatever that is??? I was just looking for some answers. I thank all who listened and offered positive advice. I have done a lot of leg work and plan to do more. All I wanted was some more answers, but some people are so blind. I had to comment on some of the things they said about the place. So if I offended anyone... I apologize -
You should get in touch with your elected officials on the matter and see what help/advise/insight/support they can give you.
Keep pushing with a positive attitude and respect. Don't give 'the man' a reason. As far as your suspisions as to the deck being stacked against you, your probably right, but you'll never be able to prove it. Just try to get in where you fit in, play the game.
There is a lot of crookedness going on in Brooklyn with property et al right now, real crookedness. -
Yeah Da crookedness of Da man tryin to keep you down! Stay Strong my brotha, you'll be poisoning our people in no time with your Liquor!!

flemingbanquet, when did you put in your application for the liquor license? The average time for a license is in the area of 6-7 months these days, this isn't a quick process. Getting the community board to give the OK is only one of many steps that must be taken.
Do you have a liquor attorney representing you? If not, you should. This person will walk you through the process and be sure that everything stays on track.
