Slope Street Cats is an awesome local group that rescues tons of cats in the area and throughout Brooklyn. They always have cats needing adoption. Check the Pets Board. I think they just posted abotu a new cat needing a home this weekend.
Is there a local ASPCA/cat rescue organization I could go to or any other recommendations?
Thanks. -

also, Hope Animal Clinic has cats/kittens for adoption. they also have a rabbit!

If you stop by at my wife's store (Natural Heights), Slope Street Cats has several fliers posted.
Oh, and Kentucky (the link that Carnivore provided) looks like a great kitten! Also, you might want to consider two cats - it'll cost slightly more to feed 'em, but they tend to do better in pairs, unless you spend a ton of time at home... -

This was the best piece of advice I was given when adopting my two. They keep each other company and they have been together since they were 7 weeks old. They are not from the same litter and they are both boys but they groom each other and play with each other. I have a friend who adopted one kitten and her kitty wakes he up every night around 1:00 a.m. to play. Mine just wake me up to feed them

at Hope there is a pair of sister cats, about 2 years old, that are the cutest things ever. they share a cage and basically spend all their time wrapped around each other, grooming and sleeping. they make you want to crawl into the cage and curl up with them. or maybe that's just angsty, lazy me.

Slope Street Cats has tons of cute cats and kittens currently available for adoption. Here is a link to the website:

I also know of two orange tabby brothers that are available for adoption. They are the sweetest things ever. Definitely a great pair! The boys are both a year and a half old, very healthy, and fully vetted. PM me if you would like more information. -
hey, Brooklynleather....
whatever you decide in terms of who to go with, i want to THANK YOU for adopting an unwanted animal out of the shelter/rescue system. thanks to you, another equally needy animal will have a second lease on life.
ya done good, kid.

come to the corner of park and washington. there are at least 5 or 6 feral cats running around in the adjacent stoop areas and yards for you to select from!

We adopted from Slope Street. They were great... really accommodating throughout the process. Plus we love our cat!

Uh, I may have just happened across a really handsome guy for ya... I'll post in the Pets section in a minute...

There are always cats up for grabs on the pets board here!

BARC (Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition) is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter in Williamsburg.

They have an affiliated vet, Dr. Elaine Shelton, who is great, so in one stop you can also take care of any shots or other health needs. -
Is there a regular old pet store in the area? I'd like to buy a fish
(a cat is too much responsibility right now...) -

Where is hope animal clinic?
I am really a dog person at heart (I've had 13 dogs in my life and I am 23. How sketch is that?) Almost all were shelter / street rescue.
However, I can't commit the time it takes to care for a dog and I work mostly out of my home, so I figure a cat would be the perfect addition to my new life here.
In any case, I am not one for rabbits or anything along those lines. -

me too. imagine that.
weve already placed one cat from that pack after having him live with me for over a month. he seemed to be the patriarch. the adoptive family is in love with him. i think theyre just dumped pets... theyre well behaived, live well inside and are litterbox-ready.
