Fire on Lincoln and Nostrand

Woe. Big fire (although more smoke than flames) on corner of Nostrand and Lincoln Place. Looks like it started in the A&M Grocery and didn't seem like anyone was injured. Five trucks on site, though. Lots of window smashing and on-lookers.

    Dunno. I saw this, and agree with the smoke, there was tons. I gawked for about 30 seconds as I walked past on St Johns, and that was about it. I walked right past it this morning, but I was distracted and forgot to note the damage. It couldn't have been too horrendous from the outside, or I probably would have noticed even without remembering to specifically look.

    I walked by Nature's Food Store at 8 PM and it was closed, which was unusual. I didn't note any fire damage. It didn't occur to me that it might have been closed due to the fire until I logged on here.

    Which stores exactly have been affected?

    It looked like the left side of A&M or the right side of the Health Food store - I couldn't really tell from where I was standing. Looks like the tenants on the floor directly above the stores were the worst hit - all their windows were smashed out (this was interesting to me...why did the firefighters smash the windows from the INSIDE? Why not just open them...?) Glass on the sidewalk was gone by this morning and both stores seemed closed all day.

    Well, in a smoke condition, I don't think you can see the window lock and time is usually of the essence.

    I'm really sorry about Nature's Choice. :( I go into that shop all the time. Those people are really sweet and helpful. I really hope they are back in business soon.

    Does anyone know when Nature's Choice might be back in business?

    Or did the fire finish them off? :(

    When I walked by A&M Grocery, it looked like they were back in business, albeit in a limited way. However, Nature's Choice is still shuttered.

    Anyone have an update?
