i looked at the pictures a little more carefully, and i realized i was ignoring a lot of processed food from the non-american ones -- especially the japanese one. the americans have more, i think -- at least, the family holding the pizzas does -- but most of the shots do have some likely corn syrup products. plenty of coca-cola (though the lucky ducks may still be getting the kind made with sucrose), ketchup, and cereal.

and man, that german family drinks a lot of everything, not just alcohol. check out all the juice! i think they are the family i most want to move in with. maybe the mexicans.

of those living at a high income level, i think i'd least like to move in with the british family.

Several thoughts: Anyone notice that there were almost NO vegetables on the table of the family from North Carolina?

And oh my God, the family from Chad have so little food!

And people in Bhutan pay $5 bucks for all that food! I'm jealous!

Since I don't eat much in processed food, a picture of me and my food would be a bunch of veggies and fruits, a big bottle of water, several packages of whole wheat udon, a couple cans of beans, a bag of kuzu starch, bag of nutra chunks, bottle of juice and sesame oil. Not a lot of food, but even for a single person, it's more than what that whole family in Chad have.

Good grief. Systemic my ass! It is really simple: 1) Get off your ass. 2) Stop eating crap.

That's it. Not that hard now, is it? They can put all kinds of rules and policies and stuff into effect, and don't get me wrong, I like the banning of transfats and whatnot. But what it really comes down to is that if people stopped eating that crap, then companies would stop making that crap. That is it. They are profit motivated, they aren't trying to shovel crap just in order to shovel crap, they are trying to make money. Stop buying crap, and start buying good stuff, and they will shovel that instead.
