Good customer service
a.k.a. I Heart Zappos

I looked at their catalog and while their product line looks really good, it's far more than I can afford to pay
so it will be a while before I can experience their customer service.
It was a great story. Made me cry. -
Wow. Pretty cool. Another way to look at is, how much did it cost them? And how much play are they getting out of it? Which doesn't cheapen the gesture in any way.
And what do you mean they are expensive? They carry like eight million different shoes. One of my favorite things about them is that I can always find decent deals on there on _something_. Not screaming deals usually, mind you, but decent deals at least.
Not that I'm a shoe whore.
Goddamnit.
A boy can dream, can't he??? -

exactly. that's what makes good customer service good business. i used to work in a customer service job, and it kills me when businesses fail to see that connection. -

So true. A point that is clearly lost on the folks at Muddy Waters, it seems.
lilb, for serious deals (at Zappos or elsewhere), check out one of the following sites:
http://www.slickdeals.net
http://fatwallet.com
Users in the Forums section there often post craaaazy markdowns and multiple rebate coupon codes, sometimes resulting in as much as 75% off.
For shoes in particular, I've often seen Zappos and Amazon listings of major brands mentioned, even the luxury stuff, with huge markdowns.
The mods there post some of the best stuff to the front page, but it's definitely worth digging into the forums themselves, as the front page deals only barely skim the surface.

Thanks for those links. I think I might try slickdeals and see if I can get a better deal on an optical drive than what I've been able to find so far. I have to wait until I get my next paycheck though.

Zappos is the shit. Stuff comes free shipping next day...you can return within ONE YEAR if you don't wear them. Free return shipping. Great service, reps who will work to find what you want....I even got a hand-written thank you card after working with one rep on a pair of shoes that were $100 (pricey but not outrageous).
Howdy, Stranger!
