Moim gets a star from Bruni
Frank Bruni of the Times reviews Moim on Seventh Ave and gives it one star. I haven't been, but will definitely be checking it out now.

I thought his review was a little weird and uninspiring.
Bruni says it should be more crowded, but says the service sucks and only gives it one star, even though the food is apparently very good.
I would have tried Moim without a Bruni review, however having seen his lukewarm commentary, I can't say that I will be cancelling tonight's reservation (Applewood, first time!) in favor of Moim. -
One star from Bruni is not the same as one star from Michelin... it is the equivalent of "good" (which means at least edible and somewhat pleasant) ... so I won't be rushing there either!

Brooklyn doesn't have that many one-Bruni star restaurants though, right? I mean, Stone Park, Grocery, Franny's.... That said, I despise Frank Bruni. His podcasts make me nauseous. But the review actually made me want to try the place... i didn't read it as being that negative.

The Times reviews Bklyn restaurants, but often with an annoying "oooooo we're going to bklyn" prose.
I'm so not into Bruni!
The NYT also gave their reluctant seal of approval to al di la and sheep station, too.
But back to us -- I'm interested as to how you get along as a vegetarian in a Korean restaurant. Unless you eat seafood. Then you can report back on the Soon Du Boo . . .
I haven't been yet, but friends report that the fresh local ingredient thing is working for them, but it's a little pricey. But at least they're spending the $ on quality ingredients.
It's such a dark, low key storefront, it's easy to miss. I just noticed it this week, and I was vaguely keeping an eye out . . . -
been there once and it was a very good experience, both in food and service
try and get a table at the back, towards the glass window
but watch out for the ginger soju! way wicked hangover

i thought this place was fantastic.
took a couple korean gals from manhattan once also, and they LOVED it.
they thought it rivalled anything in koreatown. -

I'm a flexitarian. I've been a lazy, bad vegetarian. Fish: bring it on. Bacon: second helping please. I still won't do birds or beef. Those are non-negotiables. -

I'm sure that you can order the Pork/Kimchi/Tofu stir-fry dish without the pork or with fish instead! -
I think the hot rice bowl is vegan/maybe just vegetarian - you should ask - it's delicious - this is by far one of my favorite restaurants - they have everything i want - great design, not too loud, friendly owner, delicious food, the service could, yes, be improved - but i am so happy they are here
by the way, a one star review from Bruni means A LOT to a restaurant in the Bruni world, Franny's got two! well deserved also -
I have been a few times and thought it was great. I never understood how in a foodie nabe like PS, Moim was half empry while the horrible sotto Voce was packed. Hopefully, that will change now, well at least from the Moim perspective
