Halloween Parade in Clinton Hill — Brooklynian

Halloween Parade in Clinton Hill

Hi e1....I see quite a few neighborhoods are having a halloween parade. Are there any being held here or near to Clinton Hill? Can I have some details? I see CobbleHill, Carroll Gardens, Parkslope, Dumbo, Williamsburg, Kensington all seem to have something going on. I would like to stick close to home. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,I am surprised so many nabes participate. I was only familiar with the Village Halloween Parade which I prefer not to attend.

  • There is not a parade in Clinton Hill, but there is a very nice house tour, in Ft Greene. People hand out the maps on DeKalb which mark which houses in the neighborhood have candy/displays. There is a big house on Clinton which puts on a live show with a different theme every year. Two years ago it was Pirates of the Carribean, last year it was the Mad Scientist. I've gone for the last 4 years. It starts late afternoon and goes on for several hours. Its great fun for the whole family.
  • There is a Clinton Hill Walk that is probably the same thing the above poster is referring to - though it is put on by the Clinton Hill Society.

It's that time of year again!
Time for Clinton Hill Society's 13th annual HALLOWEEN WALK!
    Meet rain or full moon.

Wednesday, October 31st, 5:30 to 6:30 PM Pratt-Clinton Hill Community Garden, corner of DeKalb and Hall Street.

All costumed trick-or-treaters up to age 12 invited! The parade route wends through the neighborhood. Maps to the most generous homes will be provided.

    Parents--please accompany your child.
  • FWIW, the house on Clinton Avenue with the flying saucer is in Clinton Hill, so the poster who says there is nothing in Clinton Hill, but rather it is in Fort Greene, is incorrect  , but welcome of course. We may even, gasp, have some Fort Greene houses on the map that are West of Vanderbilt. 8)
  • A big shout out to the folks on Washington Avenue (and I'm sure the other surrounding streets) that decorated their houses and gave out candy to the kids last night.

It was a brilliant display and to me it represented all that is good about the neighborhood.
  • Last night is why I love CH/FG so much. So many families out. So many people of all ages. The beautiful houses all lit up at night.

And of course, all the people that went all out in the spirit of the evening, putting on performances and stage displays and the giant flying saucers and the candy machine that stretched from one house to another!

It was a great night to be out.
  • yeah really, it was cool. I took a few cameraphone shots. Maybe I'll put them on here later (if allowed).
