cute tuxedo cat from fire escape STILL needs home :(

cabaki
edited November -1 in Brooklyn Pets
A new cat showed up on my fire escape, and i want her to find a home
before it gets really cold. I'm not sure if its a female or male, but he or
she is a bit shy, but is not feral because she's let me touch her and she
jumped right through my window in my kitchen.

UPDATE 11/4: I've taken the cat to the vet and she is healthy, being treated for fleas, and ready to be adopted into a loving home. Will post more pictures soon.

  • i've taken the cat to the vet today, so she's all ready to be adopted considering she's had all her shots and has been treated for fleas, etc if anyone wants to give her a home (or knows of anyone.)
  • mod - can you turn this post into a sticky please, until she's adopted?

    thanks.
  • Stickied -- but please read the "READ BEFORE YOU POST" topic in this forum, as there are a few suggestions there for additional places you might want to post.

We remove stickies after two weeks, because people were posting in this forum then never returning to let us know anything about the pets or to take down the stickies. And I was spending WAY too much of my own time PMing people to find out whether the pets they'd posted about were still in need of homes. So please give us an update in this thread at least every two weeks and we'll keep it stickied for you as long as you do.

And thanks for taking this kitty in -- she's lucky she found you! :)
  • Subject: Another cat on the fire escape

One way you can help her if you can't take her in is to get a large tupperware type container with a top and cut a small entry into it that faces your window (maybe 6"X5"). Put some bedding in there (maybe an old bedspread or towels) and continue feeding her and giving her water inside there so she knows its home and safe. I even duct taped a piece of canvas outside over the hole to keep the rain out but give her access. At least she'll be protected from the wind and rain and have some human contact to keep her friendly and adoptable.
I moved a feral cat with us when we moved several years ago and this worked really well and gave her a home of her own since she never would have come into the house.
Good luck with helping this lost kitty.
  • well it looks like i found a home for the kitty! and ironically though facebook! theres a marketplace feature, and i posted and ad for the kitty and a nice girl who just moved to the city is looking for a kitty.

i will be giving her the kitty next week, so if anything changes i'll repost (for now, dont remove the post until i know this girl is serious about taking in the cat.)

thanks to everyone who posted advice for me.
  • We don't ever remove posts here -- we just unsticky. I'm going to do that for now, but please let us know if this falls through and I'll be happy to re-sticky it for you.
  • the person that was supposed to take in the kitty flaked - so i need this post re-stickied again.

    thanks!
  • Stickied this again. Good luck!
