currency exchange in park slope???

Hi,
We just got back from Paris and we forgot to exchange our euros back to dollars at the airport. It is a small amount (around 70 bucks) and we were wondering if anybody knows of a place in park slope (or surrounding neighborhoods) that we could make a same day exchange ? Our bank (commerce) said that it would take 3 weeks and that just seems crazy...

You should just keep it in Euros as an investment. A few more months of this and it will be worth $100

Actually, that 70 Euros is already worth 100, at the current exchange rate of 1.45. The dollar is lower than low right now.

I don't know of any currency exchange places in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, wherever you bring them, you will most likely be charged a fee.

My bank, Citibank, is going to charge me $5 USD for the privilege of depositing them into my own account.

Not many banks stock foreign currency these days. Of all the Citibank branches in the 5 boroughs, only 3 banks (2 in Manhattan, 1 at JFK) actually have it on hand. So dealing with it is a big pain in their arses. Very annoying.

Yeah.. I'd hold on to them to. I actually AM holding on to them. I have about 30-40 worth of Euros from the trip I just got back from. I figure I'll either wait to use them until next time, or trade them with a friend or family member who gets to Europe before I do. Save you both the transaction fee.

No banks in PS do foreign exchange. Even those with foreign ownership, like HSBC.
Hang onto the cash for the next trip, so you get a head start with pocket money.

So after reading what people had to say, I was all for just keeping the 50 Euros... BUT my husband wanted his hard cold american cash (all 68 dollars of it!!).
I called the Chase Bank on 5th & 9th where I used to have an account and they said they could do it same day and wouldn't charge me (since I still had a credit card through them). So just thought I would pass that along...

The HSBC on 5th Ave and 40th street, when I looked a couple of years ago, had far and away the best exchange rates in town. The place in Grand Central Terminal is very expensive

if you have a account with some banks they'll exchange it for free of charge.

thats what hsbc did for me and my euros. i was like no charges and they were like nope customers don't get charged and i'm like yay man.
