Park Slope Books Closing up Shop — Brooklynian

Park Slope Books Closing up Shop

Comments

  • Sad. I love used book stores. But like someone posted on Brownstoner, it's a dead business. Book stores, video stores, record stores --- tough biz to be in these days. Really not much of a chance to be an independent.
  • I was sorry to see Tom (7th ave books) go out of business but have refused to shop at Park Slope Books ever since I asked for help finding something in their store and the clerk didn't even look up to tell me I should shop online if I wanted specific books. I don't need to be told twice that you don't want my business.
  • bummer
they have a pretty good trade paper fiction selection (which I buy), and a whole lot of big hardcover gardening and design and art books (which I don't buy)
this is the place on the same block as the other used bookstore that closed a couple months ago, right?
  • man!

only community bookstore and unnameable books are left! (That's a 50% reduction in independent bookstores in a 6 month period!)

    what's next?
  • There's also Babbo's Books on Prospect Park West in Windsor Terrace.
  • I read the subject of this post fast and I thought it said "Park Slope BANKS Closing Up Shop" Now that would be cool.
