Time Warner Roadrunner issues

I was wondering if any other Roadrunner users in the area (I live on 7th St. btw. 6th and 7th Ave.) have been experiencing massive amounts of connection problems in the past week. Sometimes the connection breaks late in the evening, which I can live with, but last night I had to work remotely from home and my internet connection was down until early this morning. I've been trying to get a hold of customer service all day to no avail. So I'm wondering if the problem is just with my line or with the service in the area. If the latter, does anyone have a dependable cable ISP they can recommend? Thanks in advance.

Out TWC internet has been dropping in and out for a few days now. we havent lost our connection completely, but we've had intermittent issues.

I don't live all that far from you and we've noticed some problems lately as well. For the past few days I've noticed the connection seems to have a lot of "hiccups" that drop the connection here and there. It seems to restore fairly quickly but it was a problem when trying to access websites and instant messaging. I haven't noticed any issues with TV or phone though (we have the "Triple Play" package).

I was having that problem last week, but hadn't called about it. My upstairs neighbors called TW to get cable installed and the installer very thoughtfully told them that cable couldn't be installed in our building. And then cut our cable and threw it into the neighbors yard (?!). They were supposed to come out on Sunday to fix it, but they didn't show up. So I said f'it and just ordered DSL.

I've been having the same issue. The best thing to do is to put in a complaint online with the NYC Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications. You will very quickly get a call back from a high level tech support person, and they will have someone at your place the next day to fix your problem. They’ll give you a follow up call, and send someone out again if the issue isn’t resolved. It works very well.

absolutely no problems near 2nd Street & 8th Avenue - and I use RR/Internet 3-4 hours daily

Couple years ago went the DoITT way when I had problems with TW.
Got my service restored, and refunds from TW.
TW has Verizon breathing down its neck, since VZ is rolling out their own fiber optic cable service soon.
Good service from TW, or else!

thanks all for the replies, if anything, I'm glad we're not the only household affected. I'll try to email a technical issue complaint in as well, but they've been unhelpful in the past or it's been difficult scheduling someone to come in, since no one is home during the workday. TW gave us a pretty outdated modem (this box looks remarkably identical to the one I had oh...5 or 6 years ago) and I wonder if that's part of the issue. I expect occasional drops, but last night it was completely out at a pretty crucial moment. Thanks again!

I have been having the exact same issue and live in north slope. One minute it's working, the next it's not. I have found it very frustrating. Guess I should make that complaint. It just almost doesn't seem worth my time and energy because I haven't completely lost the connection.

Me too -- so far it's annoying, but not enough to get more annoyed calling TWC to report it.
