It's not very new, but yes it's decent for this area. I like their grandma slice and the eggplant. I had the pepperoni knots yesterday and they were seriously good! Buttery and cheesy, yum!

I'll add Two Boots: a po boy and a sangria. I wasn't so thrilled with their pizza toppings but their dough is really tasty too.
  • Christies Patties are waaaaay better than the muffin ladies.

Cheaper bigger and just overall better. Muffin lady may have more options but they're tiny.

im not a pizza snob and I live by Roma so it good. 5th ave pizza makes some decent grinders.

the new happy taco on 7th ave and flatbush has awesome wings and you can get 20 for something like $6.99. or 100 for 30 bucks I think.

Whatever. I had both enough times to know which one I like. The first time I tried Lil Miss Muffin's I was shocked at how good it was, since I was a Christies devotee.. when I told the lady at LMM's what I thought about their patties beating out Christies, she simply said with a smile "We get a lot of comments like that."

But like I've said before and will say again, 'there's no accounting for taste' - in food, music, or women. To each their own, so I would invite everyone to give them both a try.

I agree about the LMM patties vs. Christie's. I think the Christie's filling is too soupy and sometimes has a weird aftertaste. LMM patties are reliably tasty. I don't think they actually make them there though. I think they get them from elsewhere and then bake them off. If anyone knows where their patties are actually from, you should post it!
  • Christies is without a doubt hit or miss some times but the overall size and price along with larger and better coco bread wins out for me. The bbq chicken patty at the muffin place is very good so I have no problem with it and I eat there every so often.

I also had a patty from some place in crown heights which was pretty good. I need to explore the options over there alittle more.

I really don't understand how size has any bearing on how good something tastes. I often hear this argument pop up in bagel discussions too and it always baffles me. It may be a better value in term of calories per dollar, but if it doesn't taste as good, that's not a bargain in my eyes.

That said, if you really want to be full, you should tr the meatloaf patty at Christie's.

The very friendly little Trini chick with the short hair, Rhonda, told me before that LMM makes all of their patties from scratch. Judging from the consistent quality of them, I don't doubt it. I've never had a bad one from them.

Christies on the other hand, as you said with the soupy filling, their patties tend to go directly from lethal tongue-melting hot to lukewarm in a matter of seconds, with no good in-between. In the summers it used to take like 20mins for my Christies patty to cool down enough for me to eat it, and then it would be cold before I could finish it. :x I admit I am a bitch when it comes to food temperature but damn!

LMM's on the other hand tend to stay a nice toasty hot while you enjoy it, prolly because of the meatier filling.
  • ^^ well paying 2.50 for a patty and a chunk of coco bread that fills me up is a better deal than paying 4-5 dollars for two patties at the muffin ladies place which might not fill me up.

some times you would rather not pay more for something that will make you just as happy in the long run.

both fill different voids in my patty eating.
  • I do like both Christie's and LMM patties, and while I agree that Christie's can be inconsistent, I sometimes find myself not in the mood for the slight sweetness of LMM's patties.
  • Christie's is good for veg patties, not beef. Love the coco bread.

    what? since when??
And contrary to what is said upthread, the tamales and soup place on 4th Ave and 11st St still has tamales. We had them Thursday.
You can get better ones in Sunset Park, but these are the best in PS.

I really like LA Taqueria for Calimonster burritos, and fish tacos when they have them on special. Rachel's, their sister operation, very stacks up. Weird.
  • i never get the beef patties at christies. only veggie or chicken.

    also Roma pizza is good.
  • by the way guys thank you so much for all the suggestions :) for cheap eats. plus i think you guys made armchair fat :p haha.

i'm almost done here in park slope. almost rented them all out :).
