Great new spa in the area
Man... I'm such a big massage afficionado and when I heard about this place down on park ave between washington and waverly avenues called Body by Brooklyn, I had to check it out. Wow. Great decor, the staff were friendly and professional. It's finally a blessing to be able to get a massage, sauna, jacuzzi as well as a drink AND watch the game all in one place. The prices were not "manhattan" prices so that made it even better. I would definitely go back.

This...isn't a new place, though. -
Um, Waakie, I realize I could very well be wrong here, but are you affiliated with this place in any way? If so, please read the rules for the site (at the link at the top of this and every page of the site where it says "READ THE RULES"). (Actually, it wouldn't hurt to read them either way.)
If you work at this place, own it, or are tight with the owners or staff, it would be better to say so. -
Well, just to provide a counterpoint to the rave review, I have a neighbor who has gone there several times for different treatments and not only have her massages been sub-par but one of them was overtly sexual (without her permission) and the guy asked for her number afterwards. This is an EXTREMELY difficult situation to be in and while it seems obvious what one should do, being so vulnerable often makes one run away in silent shame. My friend did, until I advised her to do otherwise. No word on whatever happened to this guy but she certainly doesn't go for massages there anymore. It's a beautiful place but caveat emptor.

Subject: SHILL POST ALERT
this is a shill post by waakie for sure...$100 for a 60 minute facial isn't manhattan prices? yeah okay.
as i posted before, this place has no business charging what it does for the location it's in...
until this place lowers their prices at least 20%, it won't be getting any of my business, or my friends' businesses... -
I heard it was just a upscale short-term hotel. Couples can rent a spa room for several hours at a time.
-
No thanks. It's going to take alot more than a cocktail to make me forget that I'm at a spa on the BQE.

this place is nothing more than a swingers club masquerading as a "spa". what legit spa has "couples (read sex) rooms" and serve alcohol. stay away if you think they offer real spa treatments. lord knows what you will catch in this glorified sex club.............. -

Actually, several legit spas do have "couples packages," where a couple can go for simultaneous massages. It's not like a "no-tell motel" kind of thing, you have four people in the room -- the couple, each with his/her (or his/his, or her/her) own masseuse. -

i went there recently and had a decent massage. it's nice and clean but - and this is a big but - i could hear dogs barking throughout my massage. i suppose that's the problem with being in the same building as as (the horrendously awful) kiki's pet hotel. -
There is a spa on Clifton Pl and Grand Ave....next door to Dakar.Very nice establishment....no cell phone usage allowed. Very calming environment and they do great work.Forgot the name though.

Has anyone had the brunch at Body by Brooklyn, or know of someone who has?! I'd really like to treat my friend to a brunch this weekend, but I'm worried, after reading these messages. I even called to get a sense of what would be served, etc., to no avail...Anything would be helpful.
Thanks. -
lol. r u serious? there's about 10 other places that come to mind when having brunch, not body by brooklyn.
-
That's true. BUT! Do the other places have saunas and turkish baths? I think not.
If the place is ok, it sounds like it could be a nice post-holiday treat...a way for us to hang out and get pampered at the same time. A great idea, in my opinion.
I haven't heard about what the space is like, though... -
when u say brunch, do you mean a bagel w/ a fruit smoothie, since you're at a spa?
or do you want fresh-baked muffins, a manchego cheese omelette, some fresh-squeezed orange juice and organic coffee?
if so, i would be surprised if bbb spa had that.. -
They actually do serve a full brunch. I've been there, and in addition to a full bar (hilarious), they have a buffet style brunch on the weekends with pancakes, eggs, etc. Not a bad idea for post holiday relaxing I agree, but it probably won't be high cuisine or anything.

I lived in the Chocolate factory when they were first renovating the space that became BBB
A ton of money was invested in this place -they were building out for almost a year and ran huge steam pipes up the building- I woke up one morning and a construction worker was looking in my window ( I was on the 5th floor).
I belive the owners are Russian and the spa is supposed to be like a Russian style spa which usually serve full meals and have bars. A russian spa is more like a social club then just a day spa
